LUPOES
Hi everyone.I've just started (back after five years) at my local VW dealership doing some driving whilst I find myself another permanent job. This is the first time I've come into close contact with and driven the Up!It's not too bad a car actually. I agree with comments about the interior being a little too plastic but this is balanced out by the use of shiny black plastic in places (around the radio etc). I've not yet been in one with the mobile nav screen thingy so cannot comment on that. One of the salesmen has an Up! Black or something and whilst it looks quite good I cannot help thinking that it costs more than a Lupo GTI did at about £14,500 new. Still, this is ten years on I know that but the engine choice is not huge... only one litres at the mo?I delivered an Up! 5dr in grey yesterday and it was an auto... absolutely awful. The gear changes almost gave me whiplash!Strangely, the Up! 5dr doesn't get "proper" rear windows... they are the pop out variety, which I've never seen before on a 5dr car. All those I've been in seem to have air con (is it standard?) and a few have had heated seats.Anyway, there's my opinion.. I'll await to see if a more potent Up! is launched and take another look then! Here's a black Up! something I picked up yesterday:

Although no release date has been announced but it a 1ltr engine producing 108bhp with turbocharging.

gatesy0093
I love this car. Seriously thinking about buying one in 3-4 years. Shame it doesn't have the wider Arches like a lupo gti. Still looks awesome though
Skezza
Wasn't too impressed with the interior of the Up! as already mentioned. It's hard because I see it through rose tinted specs. I like the Lupo, and I think the Lupo interior doesn't feel cheap, so when I sit in another car, I immediately compare it to mine and I felt the Up! interior felt cheap. Not as bad as the Fox which was utter garbage.Haven't driven one though.
lupogtiboy
I agree about the auto gearbox, its bloody terrible! Changes up and down all the time, jerky and ruins the car. I borrowed a move up! from work one night, and I think an up! black too, both of which were really good cars. The move was very basic though, great for a first time buyer as its cheap to run and insure. I too am waiting for the up! gt, not to replace my Lupo gti though!!! Rich
I love the Up!I've driven one and it is awesome. Not as fun as the courtesy fox though, that was hella fun.
lupogtiboy
My lasting memory of a fox was that I nearly died in one! I had one as a courtesy car from our bodyshop (lorry side-swiped my car), and I was on my way back from Goodwood festival of speed (ironic in a 1.2 fox!!) Some old lady was trundling along at 30 in 50 zone, so i dropped back a bit to build up some speed over a mile stretch, and went to overtake on a long clear straight, pulled out, car runs out of puff whilst I'm next to her, and next thing i know, a car is heading for me! I just managed to pull back in and avoided an accident! WON'T be doing that again! The Up! very much reminds me of my 6N polo, as that had 60bhp, but felt a lot faster than I think it really was! harreeeee
I like the up! but I am not a fan of the shiny plastics inside, or the shape of the rear lights. If it was my money I wold go for the skoda citigo instead, the rear lights look more regular, and no shiny plastics inside it just looks simpler and cleaner. And £500 cheaper
gatesy0093
Skoda also have this orgasmic looking beasthttp://www.eurocarblog.com/post/7523/skoda-citigo-rally-worthersee-tour

jgee
I had a new polo for a short while and it had a plastic and boring interior put me off, if this is a cheaper car than that was, then I'd expect not much better Edited June 9, 2014 by jgee
lupogtiboy
I am now a happy Up! owner, and having owned since early February, I am loving it so far! Fuel economy is, quite frankly, incredible for a petrol car, even on short journeys I'm averaging 50+ mpg. I was lucky with mine as it was for sale where I work, and the previous owner had ticked all of the option boxes except the city crash sensor, which if you are actually looking where you are going, shouldn't really be necessary!Mine has:Maps & More (essential in an Up! Bluetooth, sat nav, on-board computer)Cruise controlParking sensorsLeather 'look' heated seatsPanoramic roofSports suspension (15-20mm lower than standard)16'' Triangle alloysPrivacy rear windowsSpare wheel (how many times have I priced this up after people have ordered their cars!)Front fogsIts a lot nippier than the 1litre engine suggests, mines a 75bhp version, and you only really notice the difference in power on hills, but if you plan ahead and change gear accordingly, she flies up with no real issues. Handling wise, very stable, similar to the Lupo in many ways, mine with the sports suspension doesn't seem to roll too much, but coilovers are going to be fitted when she's out of warranty next year (FK street coilovers from Venom Motorsport are £190!!)There is a picture in my Garage on here, but I'll upload some later. Only mods so far are LED DRL front bulbs, LED interior bulbs and LED number plate bulbs, oh and I swapped over the white centre caps for some black ones from a sales car at work!!!! Rustym
Fellow up owner her, iv got a high up in red with sports pack so very similar car to yourself. Iv been very impressed with mine, possibly one of the best handling cars iv driven, whilst on test drive the salesman had got me booting it round islands whilst shouting at me "give it more! give it more!" and it just clung on and then zipped up to national speed limit in no time. Also, after 12k miles in around 10 months all that its needed was a new bulb in the day running light and the heat shield on the exhaust had a slight rattle which VW fixed without question.Waiting and preying for an Up GT though and wish the sat-nav/audio thingy on the dash was a bit better but other then that, super cheap tax/insurance/fuel costs but good looking and a hoot to drive. Whats not to love!?!?
Karl_Mac_
Our local VW specialist has an up! as the courtesy car, I love leaving my car with them just to borrow it. Engine makes a great noise and you can't go fast enough to get yourself into trouble.
mattarosa
My mother has an Up and she loves it too, she has it on finance and therefore will be changing it next year for a dark blue high up. She gone from a 6r polo and loves the ease of parking and how cheap it is to run. Even satisfies my dad and his daily is an S3 so
