Plug
WELL DONE FORD !you sure know how to churn out poo cars, bring back the late 80s/90s Edited July 8, 2008 by ricoshay
IDGM
Now then children.A 500 in Ford clothing with the same engines and (presumably) improved quality. I think the problem here is the styling - too generic, but fits in with the Ford look. If the Ford engineers have fettled the 500 chassis and it can be sold for less than the 2008/9 Fiesta and Fiat 500, then it should be a corker. The old KA is still a fine handling car after (does sums on fingers) 12 years. This car has to deliver on all fronts. As for Claireys comment - if you're in the market for an up to date, new small car, what Dub? A Fox? Wait for a Lupo replacement? Get real. cardaft
I like the currect KA, its very light so it drives well and its cheap. Its 12 years old now and i still see a lot of new ones. Ok the engine it total rubbish and they rot to bits, but still, id rather have that over this new one.It doesnt resemble the old one at all, and yes it does look corsa like i agree. Imasuming it will be much more expensive too? Given that ive seen brand new Kas from £5K! Fords current range is soooooo dated now, the ka is a good but old car, the fiesta looks really dated and the interior is awfuly cheap, it does handle really well though. The focus has gone downhill since they facelifted it, it just looks like they are trying too hard with it, it doesnt suit its new front. Same with the c-max. Now they have used another companies chassis and engines for the Ka, so its bound not to handle as well. Although saying that, so many unlikely companies share engines and platforms now. Get real.I am real last time i checked TYVM (Oh, apart from the hair colour I reckon waiting for the Up! to be released (providing it stays fairly close to the concept) sounds like a bloody good idea to me. cardaft
THe engine range worries me a bit too. I know some 1.3 diesel 500s were recalled due to issues with the engines, i think headgasket issues (not uncommon for a fiat!!)Which also brings me on nicely to the 1.2 used. Ive heard from a fiat specialist the 1.2 fiat engine is as bad as the rover K series for headgasket failures. Im not sure if fiat have it sorted yet, but its something to think about. stevenwba
Ford does it againanother cheap and tacky car throughout, and they wonder why there going bust
IDGM
I reckon waiting for the Up! to be released (providing it stays fairly close to the concept) sounds like a bloody good idea to me.Why wait for a "maybe" in 2010, just buy a new Smart Car. That's a Mercedes and has a far better level of badge snobbery than a VW could ever achieve.Just remember, the Skoda Van will be virtually identical to the Up!, be £1500 less and come out a year earlier. No doubt a fundamental component will be designed to fail at an inopportune moment. That's how much VAG love their customers.
Mouse_GTI
Yes! They have ruined it. I wouldn't own an original car but like it or not its a great car and a future classic, I mean Ford have been making it 12 years!

Alex_225
That Ka isn't the worst thing I've ever seen, interior is a bit garish but wouldn't look too bad in a different colour.Back end looks too much like a Corsa though which I hate, looks wise anyway. I hated the original Ka initially but its grown on me. The SportKa is one of the most fun cars I've driven so they may hit the nail with a Sport version. Maybe! lol
AndyW
I'll wait until proper pics come out, those are pretty crap.I don't think its as bad as people make out, looks ok to me.
