  1. I'd interested in some panels off that potentially.
  2. If anyone is vaguely interested in this I've just noticed its still sitting in my garage. Will probably eBay it if it's of no use to anyone.
  3. Not complicated in the slightest, plugs straight into dash and my gps receiver sat in the upper part of the dash. Let me know if you are interested, it also has a Dension iPod kit attached to it but this is for a 30pin dock connector device rather than a lightning connector like modern Apple devices.
  4. Its been awhile since the MOT that uncovered the bust damper but from what I understand you are correct. And yes I have some components for the rears, when its light I will snap what's there and add to the thread. As for how much, make me an offer of whatever you feel they are worth. 👍
  5. I have one of these that has just come out my Lupo. Can't see myself ever using it again and not bothered about keeping it around the garage forever so is anyone interested? Looks like this one:
  6. Have some coilovers that have been on my Lupo GTI. They are very well used, and in fact one is damaged and unuseable. However; these might be good for parts for someone, so if anyone is interested let me know. Quick pic, there are some other bits to these in a box in the garage! I'm in Shropshire, happy to post but as we know these are heavy! But not impossible to send.
  7. Got a part number for the set of 4 from VW by any chance?
  8. I'm a complete hypocrite though, just bought a TDI Scirocco that has sod all miles on it despite being three years old, condition and spec was perfect also so it wasn't just the 16k miles that attracted. However, in using, miles don't put me off, we just stick em on the car, have fun, and not worry about it.
  9. I've done exactly 100k in a shade under 10 years of ownership. Personally, I doubt many people get to their death bed and think, oooh, I wish I'd done LESS miles on my car. Cars are for driving, anything else is a museuem piece.
  10. I can't remember off hand, I need to fish out the invoice before I go to them anyway so I will report back. Whats the correct part number, and I guess, how much *should* it cost?
  11. Thats an option, but why settle for that if a part has been paid for and fitted but is incorrect. I could paint it, I could pay someone to paint it, I could ask you to paint it for me, but why should I? Poor service is poor service, I expect not to pay for poor service, or have to bear the costs of poor service.
  12. Slightly annoying yes! I'd have been more than happy to pay if it hadn't come painted, as I wouldn't expect them, or even VW to bear the cost of that. I'd have also been happy waiting, as I want the job done right. They pride themselves on using only VW parts. In fact, when my cambelt snapped they made a point of showing me the non-VW part that Midland VW (an indie that has, or used to have, a near faultless reputation in these parts in previous years) used a couple of years previously. I use independents not because of the cost saving, its because I had even worse service than this. That said I am thinking about going back! Thanks. Arse, I just trusted them that it came unpainted and like Peter said, I assumed that they in turn assumed I wouldn't want the extra cost and hassle and didn't bother mentioning it. So, I guess once again I have to chase (I'm utterley sick of chasing contractors/mechanics, I'm currently chasing a mobile tyre fitter who fitted a tyre and left a tool inside <yes, inside> the tyre he'd changed on my wifes car. He claimed there was no way he'd have left a tool in the tyre, and yet, there it was. Happy days. So, what is the proper, nicely red painted brake caliper's proper part number? The Sport one might be handy for comparison also.
  13. <Severely delayed reply> You can see I don't come on here all that often any longer! Apologies, your reply Jon was very concise. I tend to get grumpy about the ride quality in winter time, you know how it is when your commuting and you've yet again had your fillings come out due to another pot hole and I curse the day I ever swapped. So, in the end I had to go for a new replacement single unit. The VW indie that was doing the work were unhappy with having a car with no suspension sitting in their work shop while KW turned the unit around to rebuild it. I can't say I blamed them, so I just ordered the new one from KW and it was shipped from Germany, fitted and I was on the road within a week. In ideal circumstances I would probaly have gone back to standard, but was quoted £800 for a full OEM replacement, which for the moment I declined. Long term I'm unsure what to do, as I've said numerous times over the last 9 years (yes, 9 years of ownership last month) its a keeper, and when I eventually stop commuting in it (currently on 93k) I will do a tidy up job on the whole car. If another damper leaks, I think I will rebuild and try and remove it at home to send it off, or contemplate going back to standard. I've done over 2000 miles in a GT3 and the rides still better than a Lupo GTI with coilovers.
  14. As it says above really. Had to have a new rear caliper when it was last serviced (the other three are still the originals), but it came unpainted. Is this normal? It was supplied and fitted by an independant garage I (mostly) trust, what annoyed me was they fitted it and made no mention of it not being red, I'd have happily paid for it to be painted if thats how they come from VW however. Made me wonder if it had been supplied by a VW garage would they have painted it before fitting? Perhaps.

    Silver GTI L4UPO

Ah the reg I always wanted to buy but couldn't. Couldn't really afford it when Rob was selling his car (around 2006/7?) and someone bought it. It was being sold aroundabout 2008 (willcrook?) at the same time he was selling his car. Offered him a good price but I *think* he let the plate go with the car in the end which was immensely frustrating as I was desperate for that plate! I'm never chasing that plate again with the theory that if I don't bother trying it'll somehow come together and 'happen'.
  16. Forget what the plate was, and I was in a GT3 rather than my GTI so didn't bother waving. Male driving, somewhere near Oxford/Banbury perhaps.
  17. Thanks for this, they are nowhere near me but I have been in search of a good place so worth bearing in mind if I can't find a local place I can trust (haven't so far).
  18. Yes, I thought the refurb price wasn't too bad either. Just waiting for full quotes from KW before making a decision. Deciding factor will probably be turn around time, I'm guessing a rebuild isn't going to be a couple of days, but waiting to hear back.
  19. No, two years I gather. Life time only in the US according to the KW man on the end of the phone.
  20. I'm not looking for S-Class levels of waft, but to me, when up against something comparable like a Clio 200 with the Cup chassis, a Lupo on coilovers is too harsh. On billiard table surfaces, great, no bumps, no scrapes, but on rough country b-roads I was forever scraping bits of the car on tarmac. I asked the advice on here, but I didn't try before I bought, which was a mistake. Its been a lot better since running it on a higher ride height so its a bit closer to standard, but I have no idea how those of you with ultra low cars can even get to A-B in Britain. That said, on track and some roads its fantastic, so I guess sometimes they pay for themselves. BTW, have been in a boggo 996 C2 on KW's and it felt fine, not too bumpy, just like the stiffly sprung GT3's. The GTI is a forever car, so I can take the long view and go through suspension changes, when I start to use it less maybe the coilovers will bother me less. I don't miss the body roll, so maybe I'm just being grumpy today.
  21. Yep, bought new, but I've since found out its just a two year warranty (been on the car for 3 and half years). Anyway, had a call back from a very nice chap at KW. They can rebuild, but you have to send it to them, can't be done locally. Cost varies (waiting to get the serial number from vw indie), but roughly £40 to £80. Plus shipping a very heavy item! Its easier to replace the offending leaky parts (the strut itself?), which they quote at £140-150, again to be confirmed. Going to decide what to do tomorrow when I can find out how long the rebuild would take. As for the ride, it makes a 996 GT3 RS seem soft, for the rough country roads I drive on coilovers are too much of a compromise. Hell, even in town with pot holes and variations in surface quality its pretty bad. The standard car is a bit roly poly, but at least you keep all your teeth. For the track, the coilovers are great, perfect in fact.
  22. I regret the day I ever fitted these blasted things. I should make that clear now. They sort the handling, but the rides crap and now ones broken on me. Anyway, feel better for getting that out. GTI had been handling badly in recently weeks and the near side coilover has a bad fluid leak so its gone in for an inspection. What are my options? Do KW sell a single V1 inox? (they haven't replied yet) Can they be rebuilt? (my VW independent isn't sure as they've never had one go) Has anyone ever claimed on the KW Warranty? Having a quote to return to standard, but I suspect that won't be much different to replacing the whole set of V1's. Any advice, has this happened to anyone?
  23. How much are you looking for Joti?
  24. Ha Jon, just saw your thread and the quote on your post. I remember this car very well, went to look at it sometime in 2002/2003 at at VW dealer in Port Talbot. Was the first Anthracite GTI I'd seen and led me to speccing it on my car when I bought a new one. Glad you got a sale, mine will be advertised soon.
  25. PM sent to Max, apologies, hadn't seen the thread! Scott, its just a single cup holder, not the whole unit.
