  1. That must be one you've made, is it?
  2. I have enough diesel cars, a petrol would be a nice change.
  3. I wonder if it's time I tried a Lupe for a while .... still wondering.
  4. Oh really! As if it's 12 years since I joined here ...
  5. I'm considering a GTi at the moment ...
  6. Really nice to see one in standard spec and to showroom condition, that's a real credit to you
  7. I bought it the other day to read this. It's a magazine which I've often bought as it's pretty good and features some interesting and attainable cars. The Lupe GTi gets a pretty decent write up.
  8. Looks great, keep up the good work!
  9. Have you got any updates on this, is my old TDi Arosa still going I wonder?
  10. The guy I sold it to wanted it for cummuting as his Signum 2.2 was heavy on fuel. I'm not sure how long they had it but I have seen it for sale at least twice since I sold it. I think I was the third owner. Yes, the cruise is probably still quite unique on Arosa TDis but they are almost set up to have cruise control. I've had it fitted to my current commuter, a 6n2 Polo TDi too. I had the cambelt done when I got the car as it was 4 years old, so that will have been around 26,000 miles. Its done well to go from 65,000 to 140,000 without breaking! Yeah, the gearknob was a big improvement, the original Arosa ones are not nice to use. I still have its original somewhere. I really liked that little Arosa and until recently it was the longest I had ever owned a car. I liked it so much that I bought another Arosa TDi, again a black one and from Scotland too (probably in that thread I'd think) but it wasn't as good a car as this one was. Looking forward to seeing your updates
  11. This is my old Arosa TDi, I had it for about 2.5 years, take a look at my then readers rides page: http://forums.clublupo.co.uk/index.php?/topic/24133-cardaft-is-back/?hl=cardaft I bought it with the reg L9 MPG and the reg stayed with me for a while after I sold the Arosa, which then went back to its original reg, SA02 GOJ. As you'll see from the thread above, I fitted cruise control to it while it was in my ownership. Does it still have this? Is it still working? Its a real shame to learn that it has gone downhill over the years, glad to see you're on the way to restoring it. I have pictures saved of it when it was for sale on autotrader a couple of years ago, looked smart then. It also only had the centre grill chrome ring (which I added, but now seems to have the set). As you'll see from my thread, I bought it with 26,000 miles and sold it with roughtly 60,000 miles. It proved a great car for me and I had very few problems with it. I kept up with servicing every 6-7K back then, though its seen a few miles since I sold it! I didn't ever modify it, just subtle things like the Polo rear wiper, Polo gearknob, etc. I got it from Kilmarnock, Scotland, its certainly been around! Looking forward to seeing its updates with you ...
  12. That is a real shame, it looked to be a very nice car going my your members cars thread. I would be livid if someone else wrote my car off. Have the airbags gone off? If not would it not be easy enough to repair it??
  13. Ok, a standard sport then ...
  14. They shoul not have put 80 on the wheel, even if it does say KPH under it. So i hope your sticking to 50 with it on and taking corners in a boring fashion! I used mine a few times, on the front, it felt, drove and sounded like it was just rolling on the metal rim, so noisey and no grip at all. Dangerous in my opinion, so with my sensible side i bought a new 14" steel and tyre for the boot Tidy looking Arosa though, 1.4S Manual is not a common spec either.
  15. I always wanted a Onvi Yellow Sport with the later wheels, just like yours. You get a bit better spec than the TDi too, sideair bags and ABS standard on all instead of just the later cars. Still, TDis are brilliant in my opinion., not to mention they can be easily made to be quicker than a petrol sport too
  16. Well if you dont have any service history for the last 30K, id certainly be doing an oil change and filter change, you can also make sure it has the right grade and high quality oil in Oil is not just oil and different makes perform better. I agree, almost, about the flush. I always use Forte oil flushes on services but i wouldnt if i thought the car might have been without an oil change for 30K. Id do a quick oil and filter change, perhaps with just cheap motorfactors oil. Run that for 500 miles or so and then get a flush in (i only recommend Forte flushes as most have no lubricants and they do not recommend the car is driven with this in) However Forte does contain lubricants and the car can be driven. I usually drive 20-30 miles with a flush in before i do an oil change. The oil, even in a petrol, usually comes out very dark after a flush. However, the new oil stays clean for ages. I did that with my diesel two weeks ago, 600 miles later the oil is still extremely clean and golden, thats with a diesel! Forte do do somehting called 'oil fortifier', it is supposed to slow down oil usage and help worn or higher mileage engines. Ive used this in a Fiat Stilo 1.6 which was using oil, over the next 3000K miles it didnt use any were near the ammount it was, i didnt even need to top it up. With a sport engine, which is known for using oil and often doesnt like too high mileages, id certainly be doing the above regularily. Preventing costly problems is better than having the inconvenience and costs of an engine repair. Or that is my views on the subject.
  17. Yeah, seemed a well cared for car at the time. Was it you who was looking for a TDi Arosa/Lupo?
  18. Thats a very tidy looking car, i thought so the first time it appeared on here ... it used to belong to a CL member. I can't remember their name now but there was some very good pictures of it on here. I saved a few so know its the same car. It was a good 2-3 years ago i think. The search function seems next to useless on here now, so im not sure if you will be able to find the old posts about it. Might be interesting to read them if you can.
  19. You confused me there, a 99 Arosa TDi! Only 1.7SDis were made in 99 in the S1 body. So yours should be the same as the other S1 above, above the fuse box.
  20. Its looking very tidy Jon, ill have to have a ride out in it soon and see if i can tell the difference in the suspension Has your mum realised her lights have changed yet? Her SE looks odd with all red. Mind, i could remove the lights on my mums car all together and she wouldnt notice Very nice pictures, where were they taken? Looks Newcastle-ish? Its a shame you can't fit the starlites over the brakes, it would look pretty good.
  21. Ive had two Arosa TDis ... Really there is very little to look out for on the TDis specifically, as they are actually the hardiest of the lot. No pedal box issues, gearboxes are strong and the engines usually go on forever. Check for cambelts, they are every 40K miles or 4 years. These rarely get done at this interval and its a must, so make sure the one you get has had a recent change or budget that into your buying costs/haggling. If you replace the cambelt kit yourself, get the water pump changed too. 1.4TDis use the PD specific oil, which is cheap (£20-£25 from the dealers) but it should be used. There is no way of checking this is in a car already unless receipts are there, but id change to that at the earliest point. Obviously you want one this side of 2001 which will be the lower tax of £30 a year. Other than that, just do the usual car checks, as you would with any car. Arosa TDis are a similar spec to the Lupo Sport TDi, give or take a few things between them. Early examples of both had light interiors and no ABS. Later cars had dark interiors and the late Arosa TDis had ABS fitted. I had my 2002 Arosa TDi for 2 and a half years, covered 34K miles in it and sold it with 60K miles. I never had any problems with it, it was an excellent car. I recently bought a 2003 Arosa TDi with 54K miles which was a very good car, but i just couldnt live with the size of it after having a bigger and more refined car, so ive sold it. They do keep their value well, which is excellent news. I lost £200 in depreciation in the 2.5 years with my first one! I dont think i can add any more really. Good luck with the search for one
  22. Well i was driving through Billingham and then Hartlepool at around 5.30-6.00? I think it was Hartlepool i saw you, possibly the marina area? I wasnt driving an Arosa so i doubt you spotted me
  23. I saw you at a resivoire visitor centre near Timble towards Harrogate. I did get a picture which ill upload later. Who is it?
  24. I can't remember exactly where it was now Im always driving somwhere. Could have been in Hartlepool or Billingham? I wasn't in an Arosa.
  25. I saw you yesterday, its a smart looking Arosa
