  1. Probably the size Volkswagen spent millions of Euros on deciding upon. Only Joking! Or am I?
  2. Look up old threads for nfbr's TDI.
  3. I'm thinking of returning to Lupo ownership after about seven years absence. I'm favouring a GTI and possibly a TDI and would like to know what the aging Lupo now suffers from, the newest cars are approaching 9-10 years old. I know way back when, the 6-speed GTI was the one to go for, but over time things change in terms of long term reliability and ease of maintenance (including availability of parts). But many of the Old Skool CL members have moved on to other vehicles and the "newbies" are picking up our cast offs. GTI: 5 or 6 speed problems welcome. TDI: Enlighten me!
  4. It was this that I was referring to from that road legal FF type thing they built, without going into the nitty gritty. But for those of us who like it easy, a 'simple' remap might give a healthy boost. Can't stand Chris Harris. He's so, so,..... expertly up his own arse. And wordy.
  5. Yes, it might be back on with the same engine going into the next gen Polo and the Golf. If that engine is as good as Ford's 3 cylinder 1.0 offering, the tuning potential is deffo there. Must be an easy 120-130hp on a remap.
  6. It's not happening, is it? Costs killed it.

  8. I got a lifetime ban from the NUS in 1990/91 for being an "anarchist"! Not that I'd want to join again, bloody students. I'll not bore you with the details oif the trumped up charges brought against me, but it involved a paper aeroplane, George Bush, the NUS bar and some Palestinians.
  9. If there is going to be a contest this year, please accept this as my entry. "Perfect 10 (inches)"

    Who was it ?

    It's Rochdale innit bro?
  11. I don't even know what the Harlem Shake is. All I see is a group of people dancing. Looks like the latest version of a Flash Mob thing. How about a Milk Shake? Or a Harlem Globetrotter?
  12. 3D printers will spell the end of centralised manufacture once the units become affordable and big enough to be useful. All you'll need in your home is the right "ink" and you'll be on your way. Download a licenced file for the item you want and get it done at home. We've already seen shoes, dresses, jaw bone implants, bicycles and other stuff printed out. Personally, this is my favourite. 3D printed artifact...
  13. Indeed! So when you're driving and hink "what's that knocking?", it's not a suspension bush gone, it's Alec Issigonis trying to say "check out the build quality in this German Mini". Back on track, the Up! GT might spur Ford on to Abarth-ise the Ka. I can't understand why they haven't made a Ka ST already.
  14. But you could also say the Lupo was the spiritual successor to the Austin Mini: FWD, short wheelbased, big headlamped, four seater (with cubby bins either side of the rear seat too!), don't pack too much luggage. You may scoff, but the similarities are most definately there. But cars don't have spirit, only marketing spiel.
  15. Just noticed on the Daily Telegraph list of "Hot" Hatches for 2013, the Up! GT is now scheduled for Winter (ie the end of the year, not right now), still with 108hp. It'll have no torque though, so will have to have its neck wrung to get any progress out of it. I also like the constant references to it being the spiritual successor to the original Golf GTI. It won't be and neither will any other model. That honour always lies at the feet of the current model Golf GTI. It's like saying the new baby born last week to the family that lives in your great, great, great, great grandfather's old house is his spiritual successor, not his blood relative.
  16. Mr C, are you going thinking of going for a new one? If so, get it on HP or PCP and don't have it any longer than the warranty period. Any faults fall to the hire/lease company then.
  17. The MVL system as it stands now is already unfair. An utterly fair taxation system ALREADY EXISTS for use of the roads that is directly proportional to the type of vehicle driven and it's the duty applied to road fuel. MVL could be scrapped and a nominal amount added to road fuel duty to compensate. Simple.
  18. Did you take the car here? [media=]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HjBK_e3KWmQ
  19. Reads like a slagging to me. Just sayin'!
  20. Tragic though this is, I don't think it's utterly shocking that people haven't reacted (or over reacted) to get involved with a persons bad news. I am sure those close and lesser known to the family will do everything they can to ease the pain during tough times. That lad is clearly loved and cherished. Stories like we've had from Preston this week are utterly shocking, where parents apparently have no love or respect for their kids to the point that they kill them. It's like Facebook, people see the need to post things like (and I kid you not) "R.I.P, that big bloke off Green Mile". This was someone that I unfriended after seeing it on his timeline this week, presumably just to join in on the public outpouring of emotion.
  21. Someone was very proud when they finished that. I'd bet more time and effort was spent build it than many on here that just debadge, lower and fit a set of 'cool', eBay rare wheels. It's not to my taste, but I wouldn't publicly slag off someone elses efforts. It doesn't fit in with The Scene, that's all.
  22. I'd rather they stole a car like this, than get in my house for the keys. However, why keyless start has become so popular is a mystery to me.
  23. Has anyone read the ad? It's for NEW wheels with NEW tyres. Not fecked rims needing a refurb then needing tyres. I've just paid £400 for four new tyres for the Altea.
