  1. Would a passenger electric window regulator from a 2002 lupo be a correct replacement for a 1999 v reg vw lupo? Cheers

  2. Online Car Insurance Quote with Prestige Renewed! Modified & Standard Cars! We trialled this a few months ago. At the time, feedback from Tom ‘Gudzy’ of 350Z-uk was - ‘around 10% cheaper than my current policy....(and you were slightly more expensive than them when I took out my policy a few months ago).’ That’s great to hear AND we’ve also reduced the prices even more since the trialling (my quote went down by £200!) so we have now launched our online quote designed uniquely for the registered users of car clubs. POSTSCRIPT! After officially launching this week, the first person to do an online quote and report back said ‘that actually worked out quite cheaply for me........will be bearing that in mind come renewal in a month’! So please bookmark the following url and click on this unique link for the registered users of this car forum to get a quote at renewal - GET AN ONLINE QUOTE – http://prestigekeepmoving.taaglquotes.com/car/getquote?source=CLUBLU (If you have more than 5 modifications or over 10% bhp increase, please ring us on 0800 3308057 or 0333 4001580)

  3. Quick numpty question... are the drivers side airbags from the standard steering wheel and the GTi leather steering wheel the same? I've tracked down a leather wheel at a good price, without an airbag...

  5. Bought a brand new Lupo Sport in 1999 and absolutely loved it. Was very sorry to have to sell it after four years when it became clear that it is impossible to fit a rear-facing baby seat in the back... Fast forward a bit. Kids are now aged 6 and 8, and I suddenly realised that a tiny second car is now an option again! And a nice side effect of getting old is cheaper insurance... After a few weeks of searching, found a lovely 2002 GTi in silver. 89k miles, full history and completely standard. I absolutely love it. Picked it up from the very nice seller on the back of a flatbed I borrowed from work - 240 miles each way after work one night! Had a quick spin in it, then me and the missus had a weekend away. Went to see Muse in Manchester - drove there in the Loop and took the twisty route over the North Pennines. Great fun but pretty exhausting. That's the downside of getting old - got too used to big comfy cars! I'd also forgotten how small the fuel tank is... If I was being picky I would replace the interior door handles and retrim the upper door cards. If I was being really picky I would be tempted to try an aircon installation, but I'm loving the sunroof at the moment.

  6. Was looking on Club Lupo for the Japanese Lupo GTi owner's thread. Couple of guys on the local JDMTAS forum were keen to see examples of european cars being run in Japan. I remember from when I was looking to move from my Mk3 Polo to something newer that I saw his thread on here. I never did buy a Lupo but I did end up with a Clio 182 Cup which is doing just nicely...shame the Quaife differential is £950+ for it : ( Anyhoo...I was the guy who originally approached Quaife a few years ago to make a differential for the 085 gearbox. It's my big long post that's quoted on the first page: http://forums.clublupo.co.uk/index.php?s=&...st&p=595947 I got in a bit over my head as Quaife wanted 1 person to be solely responsible for the order...that meant a bill of £13k...eeeek I thought I'm only a student with £700 in my bank and earning £6 p/h! In the end through an upstanding guy who goes by the name of Chris (the chap dogwood knows) we got it all sorted. He provided all the invoices and collected the money for the 10 orders. In the end the units were delivered in good time considering how busy Quaife are with big OEM/motorsport orders. One person I know running a 150bhp G40 is delighted with his purchase and told me it's made a fantastic difference to the car. I sold my differential on as two years down the line I realised I didn't have the financial clout to finish my Polo project...my plans were big but my wallet wasn't...so sadly I never got use the fantastic differential that Quaife had made! If I had bought a Lupo GTi I can 100% guarantee my name would be down for this group buy...maybe twice. The group buy offers great discount and a great product. I've read a few posts with people trying to knock ATB differentials but they obviously have no idea what they are talking about. They are the friendliest, easiest to use and best differentials to use on a FWD car day-to-day OR on the track....a plate differential might provide impressive locking on acceleration on a track but in almost any other situation it's awkward, noisy and unsuitable. There is a reason that Ford, Renault and Honda all use gear type differentials on their road cars...and that's worth paying attention to as no one makes a better performing hot hatch than these brands...a long with VW of course : ) Glad to see Club Lupo is getting together to get a Quaife ATB differential, hope it all goes smoothly and you're happy when that box comes through your door. You even get a free lanyard!!! ...I hope you still do. I wore mine when I went to pick my Clio up from Tim Harvey the BTCC driver...his main competitor was Quaife's son so I was hoping to get a reaction from him haha If it fits get a white nylon quaife gear knob too...it'll give people an indication of whats lurking at the end of the selector shaft/cable!

  9. I've seen this idea on a few forums now. How about we start a photo of the day thread? There seem to be a fair few of us on here with at least some interest in photography so just an opportunity to post some good photos up for people to appreciate or comment on RULES: 1. one pic per member per day 2. must be the work of the poster 3. try to keep the images to a reasonable size to assist viewing. A link to the full res version may be posted if required. 4. please respect others images and ask permission before using elsewhere or downloading to your computer (Added by Silver! 14 Oct 08 as the original rules seem to have disappeared)

  11. Had this for about 3 weeks. It's my only car and will see a fair bit of the road (400m a week). It's already very solid body-wise and mechanically. Sold as unwarranted 70k miles but its 100% believable - just no concrete proof as very little history. Mods I know about are: Full re-spray (no rust, no fade, very high standard) KONI fully adjustable coilovers. Magnex stainless exhaust. VW Sebring Alloys (tatty) Plans are to clean it lots, service it lots, fix all the niggles and keep it timeless. (Sorry about the Clio) I'll try to post any major updates, but I'm not good at documenting every little thing. I've already re-attatched a driveshaft as it was put in finger-tight by some moron, had an alignment done, replaced a coolant hose and replaced the bulbs in the clocks (yawn).

  12. Here's my new car! Picked it up last week and had a hefty drive home: Had an absolute biatch of drive cos just after i bought it I put the window down and it decided not to go up. An hour and crap load of duck tape, masking tape, and clingfilm later... Luckily the guy I picked it up from gave me a spare window motor and I fitted it when I got home: Car is absolutely immaculate inside and out Cheeky wee engine shot:

  13. Hi guys, I currently drive a vw fox (yes it's silver) I'm looking at getting some alloys, Dezent panik in 17". Within budget and personal preference as i think they will look sweet. 2 things, will they fit? And, anything else you can recommend I do to the car? I've already got things like a stereo and sound set up. Looking at getting rid of the black strips on the sides too. I want to lower it but that's another story . Cheers guys.

  18. You'd need ridiculous ET to get "illegal poke" which you probably wouldn't get with any 7j wheels really 195/45 job done
    1 point
  19. I'm pretty sure the 35 is the offset. 195/45 will give you a straigh sidewall/. Stretch will look even more ridiculous than a standard car on aftermarket wheels.

  28. Just picked up my new car which had previously had Cambridge edition rear lights, these were switched back to standard Arosa Mk2 lights for the sale, all the fuses were blown so i replaced them and they blew all over again. Different wiring. While rectifying the problem i found a load of spliced wires and it occurred to me that not many people know how to correctly swap connections in terminals so i decided to write up this little how to. Here goes: This is the spliced loom how i got it (bar pin 6 which i fixed before thinking about making a how to). If this mod was done the 'correct' way, it would be a lot quicker to revert and a lot neater. Step 1: Insert a small screwdriver or something similar to pry each end of the retainer. This block is for the rear lights, the retainer on the connector block for the radio will be a slider that pulls out the center of the block. NOTE: MOST BLOCKS CONTAIN RETAINERS. INSPECT THE BLOCK THOROUGHLY BEFORE ATTEMPTING ANY EXTRACTION. This will be what it looks like open: Step 2: Insert something into the connector block from the front on either side of the pin to compress the tabs, you should feel/hear a small click or pop, this indicates the pin should be free. For this i used a staple from an electric stapler/nail gun. Not the greatest picture but you can just see on pin 5 (red and black) the staple pushing down on the tabs. Step 3: Extract the pins and swap around. Its that easy. A picture of the loom tidied up - all wires heat shrank up, then bound with insulating tape for water proofing and bound again with loom tape for strength.
