  1. I have this also adverstised on ebay and Pistonheads - price is negotiable and it's probably advertised for too much (currently £3750. Make me an offer!). Pics are here: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-Lupo-GTI-125bhp-6Spd-2002-UNMODIFIED-/282016208966? http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/volkswagen/lupo/vw-lupo-gti-125bhp-6spd-2002-unmodified/5601508?v=b My beloved 2002 Lupo GTI -Completely standard and unmodified. I've owned this car for three years and loved every minute, but I really need something bigger so the time has come to move on. MOT is due to expire in June but I'm happy to renew it before sale to give you peace of mind. 115k miles, very complete service history. I've owned the car since 85k and have only had servicing done at the VW main dealer since then, other than one that I did myself (I'm a chartered engineer) as I couldn't get booked in to my usual garage at the right time. The paintwork is in decent condition for a 14 year old car with 115k miles. A few little bubbles in the usual places and quite a few stone chips on the bonnet. Not perfect but it's made to be driven - and what fun it is! I'd love to be able to say that it's been driven carefully by an old lady...but if you're reading this then you know that really wouldn't be true. If there is another Lupo for sale that claims to have been driven by a nun, take that with a pinch of salt! Every journey is great fun - it never misses a beat and feels as good as when it was new. I know this because I had one new a long time ago - missed it so much that I wanted it back ten years later and bought this one. Sound great, feels great, gets through front tyres pretty enthusiastically (as do they all), and I wouldn't have it any other way. Talking of tyres - Toyo Proxes all round, all with loads of depth left - they are all less than a year old. Cam belt and water pump were done at about 90k - the previous owner said it had been done at about 80k but I figured better safe than sorry. Both keys present. When I bought it there was only one key, and I got that one wet (long story) and had to replace it. Bought the second at the same time as I didn't want to be locked out again! That wasn't a cheap experience, and the second key has never been used. The interior is is good condition, no tears or other blemishes at all on the seats. The standard CD player and cassette player are fully working, as is the factory tilt/slide sunroof. I've added an aux input to the cd player so you can connect an mp3 player, but that is the only change to standard. You can't see it when not in use but it works well. Great condition Lupo GTI that I will miss very much - good home wanted! Open to test drives but must have proof of insurance cover of course! Make me an offer - give me a call on 07743 552 772 to discuss. Can deliver on a transporter if necessary.

  3. Thanks Lhotte - its tempting but I really dont want to do anything that the insurance co would need to know about. Is it really worth spending loads on expensive shocks or are cheap ones good enough?
  4. So I was happily reading the Awesome GTI Anti-roll bar thread, thinking "how can it make as much difference as they say it does? Mine feels completely planted!" when it occurred to me that it might already have one fitted. Quick dash outside and on my hands and knees - nope, no ARB there. Hang on - that rear shock looks a bit damp... It's definitely gone, and recently too. I've never seen oil drips on the drive from a blown shock before! I've only had the car a few days and had vowed to keep it standard. However, since I now need to replace the rear shocks anyway...what is the recommended approach? Do I get a pair of Monroe's for £80 on eBay, or will they be shite? Any better suggestions? I don't want it lower or harder - just OEM. Should I just go to VW for them? cheers Rob
  5. Tiring yes, but great fun. Just love the way it revs after so long driving diesels. I really intend to keep it standard, but I do find myself looking for Eaton M45s on ebay...
  6. Bought a brand new Lupo Sport in 1999 and absolutely loved it. Was very sorry to have to sell it after four years when it became clear that it is impossible to fit a rear-facing baby seat in the back... Fast forward a bit. Kids are now aged 6 and 8, and I suddenly realised that a tiny second car is now an option again! And a nice side effect of getting old is cheaper insurance... After a few weeks of searching, found a lovely 2002 GTi in silver. 89k miles, full history and completely standard. I absolutely love it. Picked it up from the very nice seller on the back of a flatbed I borrowed from work - 240 miles each way after work one night! Had a quick spin in it, then me and the missus had a weekend away. Went to see Muse in Manchester - drove there in the Loop and took the twisty route over the North Pennines. Great fun but pretty exhausting. That's the downside of getting old - got too used to big comfy cars! I'd also forgotten how small the fuel tank is... If I was being picky I would replace the interior door handles and retrim the upper door cards. If I was being really picky I would be tempted to try an aircon installation, but I'm loving the sunroof at the moment.
  7. Did this ever come off? There's one on ebay at the moment... http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=130920782277 Cheers Rob
  8. Oh crap - really sorry to hear that. I was bloody annoyed as the seller was being really evasive. I gave up chasing him in the end - wish he had just said it was sold! That is really bad luck. Hope you get something sorted out soon Rob
  9. This wasn't the one that was in Smethwick was it? It was pulled from ebay yesterday - you beat me to it if so! What exactly went wrong with the engine, do you know? Is is rebuildable? Cheers Rob
