skyetom
HiI've had my Lupo GTI since last December but this is my first post on here; hello! Thanks in advance for any advice you can offer. I recently found that there's no engine undertray on my car and I'd like to fit one. I've seen different stories about whether or not Lupos had this part fitted as standard. My question is, is it a standard Lupo part or is there a difference between GTI/non-GTI models? If anyone has one for sale then I'd be very interested. I also need to replace the lower part of the front offside wheel arch liner.CheersSkyetom
James827
If anyone has the GTI ones part number I can check it Against mine.

mkl22
Whats the benefit of one?
Pete
Keeps the underside of your engine clean and provides some protection if you're low from large road debris.
mkl22
Ohhhhh, so acts as a sump guard basically! Sweet, didn't know if there was a major reason for having one!New to this lupo stuff sorry!
skyetom
Thanks for the replies everyone. I'm still keen to know if the tray is fitted as standard or not; anyone know?

angelo77
Mine came with one as standard, it's a 2001 Lupo gti which I've had since it was six months old. I have taken mine off as I Run a lower strut brace
Wee Sprocket
If you fit one, don't use the silly metal fastener. Try getting 3 of the nylon nuts that hold the windscreen washer bottle in place,I have done this on mine and it works a treat.WS
jon_273
Thats a good tip, as those metal fasteners don't work very well once the undertray has been on and off more than a couple of times.
skyetom
Thanks for the tips. I'm on holiday this week and plan on doing some more serious searching for parts. The most important bit for now is the wheel arch liner (mentioned above) but I might need to bite the bullet and speak to a main dealer about that.CheersSkyetom
north wales loop
and don't drop nuts and bolts in the engine bay as they are a right c**t to get out with the engine tray fitted!
jamiea7x
Engine tray is around 90 quid new, I priced mine as the nuts fell off at each side and it scraped along the deck for miles wearing a big hole in it!
dirk1978
Resurrecting this thread. Is it fairly safe to run without a tray for a week or so? Judging by the replies here some people run without them anyway? Isn't the aluminium sump a bit exposed?
LR5V
I believe this thread is about the plastic under tray - it wont protect the sump No problem running without, they are most useful in winter - keeps engine bay cleaner and helps with engine warm up too
Rich
It's also GTi specific for future reference, the Polo avy one doesn't work as it doesn't compensate for the 02s gearbox end casing
