highest mileage car owned on this forum?

At that kinda mileage, it may be beneficial to chuck some 15/40 in instead of the 10/40.

How is that being nicer to it?

More losses, but better lubrication. I agree with Rich. Go slightly thicker on higher millage or tunned engines. My 1.8T runs 10W40 rather than the 0W30 VAG recomend.

a 10w40 and a 15w40 are the same viscosity at operating temperature, but a 15 will be slower to circulate around the engine on startup.

Mine was on 112k before it ended up upside down.

Standard gearbox survived 93k and only ended up ruined because i drove around for 10k with a snapped pedal box lol.

my sdi is on 135k dont know what life its had but in the last year its done 12k and been driven very hard, my old man had a pug 305 d estate with 260000 on the clock

audi has 158000, but still pulls like a train and goes off the clock. :thumbup:

Not sure its true about the mercedes thing, Possibly is. Does seem like something they'd do tbh!

I hadnt noticed that yet (And wont now my fabia gone). The TDI off the road at min so that mount will be up with you in the next 2 weeks mate. (Tho I will want my GTI one doing too at somepoint)

ive been in a merc taxi in cyprus 3 litre diesel it had done 970,000 km, same gearbox and no engine problems, only thing he had to replace was the interior and the steering wheel twice! haha

My passat just a smidgen over 160, still awesome though.

Drives better and smoother than my old 40k lupo.

Do most lupo's sound a bit "deisel'y" ? Lol

My Lupo 3L has now done 399,544km, or a bit over 248k in miles.. On its original turbo and gearbox I might add :)

my dad used to drive buses and one of those had rolled over on the clock (1,000,000+ miles) saw a 1.4TDi on 199,000 in a garage last month

after i heard this, i asked 2 lecturers at college (previously worked at mercedes reasonably high up) and they said they hadn't heard of anything about it :/

Bit of a bump but my Lupo SDI is about to hit 220,000 miles

I have an SDI about to hit 240k.
