  1. That's great info. The willtheyfit results are reasonable but my concern was more if they would fit in the arches or not. it seems they will. thanks for the confirmation guys.
  2. Hi Guys, bit of an unfamiliar topic but I'm hoping someone can help. I've got it in my head that i want to put the biggest tyres i can on my sport alloys. current size is 185/55 r14 80h she's completely standard height 2000 1.7SDi. Has anyone done this before? I know it'll probably throw the speedo out a bit but i'm not too worried. my main concern is scrubbing the arches and smashing into things at full lock.

  4. Haha yeah its ok now change of plan, bit of scotch bright, and some thinners will do for me. planning to take the whole thing off and clean it over the bin. new gasket at the ready, roll on sunny weekend *crosses fingers*
  5. Hi guys, i'm not in a position to be able to look at the minute but could anyone tell me the approximate (or exact) bore of the inlet on an SDi (1.7) i'm making a polishing tool to get the crap out of the ports at the weekend but it would be better if i knew the size. Cheers,
  6. Since the theory behind it is basically perpetual energy i'd say that it isnt likely to work....
  7. That'll look good if done well mate. not to my taste personally (dont like badgeless bonnet's or the angry lights haha) you should try shopping the lower bumpers in yellow too. I also agree with what another member mentioned on a separate post about having wheels with more wheel than gap, unless you're planning on putting bigger brakes on. they raise a good point about how tiny wheels like these make the brakes look tiny. So in summary it looks good apart from the front.... and the wheels... and the bonnet imho haha
  8. Agreed, Sounds exactly like this.
  9. Ahhhh i did wonder haha. cheers guys. big help. suppose i can whack a bit of negative camber on for SDi track days now haha
  10. Long Story Short; I have a 2000 1.7SDi and the other day one of the front springs went twang, So bish bash bosh i took the shocker out removed the old spring put the new one in and replaced it into the car, After this i noticed that the tracking seemed out when driving, as the steering wheel was no longer level to drive in a straight line, After this i took a look at the car and noticed an obscene amount of negative camber on the wheel. comparing this to the other wheel which is perfectly level at 90° to the horizontal i took the wheel off and investigated. and heres where the problem lies, the two bolt holes in the shocker, where the hub mounts to it, are elongated so theres a vast amount of play when the bolts are slack. And obviously the camber of the wheel is directly affected by where the hub is when you tighten the bolts. Anyway after much fannying about; getting the car level; checking the angle of the side i hadnt touched and making the one i had similar i've got the car looking normal and running straight again. i'm going to take the car in the get tracked and serviced anyway but i just wondered if anyone else had had this problem.

  19. the rear side window on the up makes it look better that the other two. plus the front of the up! looks a little more modern, just a shame about the view from the back.
  20. Dont know why you ever would but never try and get in a MGF haha, had a go trying to sit in one and my nose was level with the top of the windscreen, just reminded me when you said about the s2000. bit gutting as i always fancied the honda, but i'm 6'7" so i've got no bloody chance. Back on topic though mate..... epic car. love the state of the front wheels with all that dust on. DILYSI!!!!
  21. no worries, i've just told him to ring them and explain the situation fully. just wondered if anyone on here had tried it in the past as i've noticed a few members who have sold cars are from ireland. Asking just in case there were any common problems with it.
