  1. Those look very close to the limit, good job undoing them -Another shout for plusgas brake flex’s can be tough to remove, easy to snap off the line - you need to look at undoing them too, mine were looking old so I just cut them
  2. Amazon one looks very Chinese - check Ali express or ebay, no doubt a lot cheaper Shark fins tended to be worse for reception - but this may have changed How about a half way house, more sting ray: ...but it does make our cars look more like remote control ones
  3. Top mount bearings should be replaceable -I looked at mine, seems to be a top hat insert needs pushing out to reveal a cir-clip. usually they use standard sized bearings -try Merlin Motorsport for NMB or Aurora ones.
  4. Afraid I don’t - too difficult to say with the 3L - there would be a lot of trial and error, Gti hubs probably a good start, but your drive shafts may not work...a lot to go through. I would go looking for German Lupo forums, they will have a lot more experience with the 3L and modifying than us in the UK
  5. Carbon discs will be a huge cost for a consumable item, suspect they would have to be custom made, inflating the cost even higher. I understand the 3L hubs have integrated caliper cariers - I would suggest you need to convert hubs to a non-integrated caliper carrier type, this allows bigger discs and will open up a lot more off the shelf options, even 4 pot calipers - See Clayton's Gti with Wilwood 4 pots -Page 17 It will add a good chunk of weight, but be reassured you will stop.
  6. That’s great! Mart is really sound guy - one man band in a shed - kind of jealous you are getting to meet him!
  7. I understand Engine and body loom integrated - I bought my spare Lupo AVY from a guy who had converted his Lupo, but used Polo engine and loom - he was a mechanic, so I hope he knew what he was talking about - He said he had to rewire the whole car to make it work. I wouldn't get too hung up about VVT - what I have read is it only adds a few ponies at top end, you need to go through all the loom connections on the 1.4 and compare with AVY - as a starting point... the Starter motor cable and loom will need looking at.
  8. Automotive instead of Architectural Salvage! Its only in Stoke - 100 miles up the road for you Sausage
  9. Its all in the details! - 5 or 6 speed? loom may well work - but I don't believe 1.4 had vvt
  10. The Lupo Gti AVY engine has different bolt pattern to the gearbox + starter motor is at the front - so it wont bolt up to your current gearbox - but Polo Gti AVY is a regular bolt pattern and will work, but then there is the wiring. I understand you can swap 1.6 internals into certain 1.4 engines - the bore is the same, crank and rods give more stroke - this may be a more stealthy way to get more power, if your engine can be changed you retain everything you currently have, but with a few more horses.
  11. That sounds like an ideal buy for that ebay seller who lists F'd up parts off Lupo Gti's at ridiculous prices - not going to list their name as they seem to change it regularly The scary thing is they seem to sell some items at that price too! Currently they are listing: Used Gti Xenons for just over £700 posted! or any one for some corroded used Wietec Hicon coilovers? a steal at only £450.
  12. I missed this, sad to hear ongoing issues - I would recommend my guy who rebuilt the box, lightened the flywheel and got me a cheap Quaif - Mart at Gas'n'gears on facebook, he's at Cornelly just over the bridge in South Wales, if its too far - box or pallet it up
  13. No worries - I was on my ipad earlier - a lot harder to add links: This is the one I got - or similar - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DAB-ROOF-AERIAL-RADIO-SMA-SMB-FAKRA-12V-AMPLIFIED-KIT-BOLT-ON-ANTENNA-AERIAL/223457222149?hash=item3407169e05:g:gScAAOSw8t5dcL5d Not sure if mine was the same, I missed out on choosing the connection and had to also had to source an adaptor - so work out what connectors you need The great news is it looks like OEM antenna but stubby - be aware it took a good few weeks to get to the UK... may take longer with viral lock-down
  14. Glad to hear you are a convert to DAB Afraid not - an FM/AM antennae does not receive DAB. either stick with windscreen antennae (not great) or you need to replace your current one with a Dab antennae - these usually have 3 cables, one for dab, one for fm/am and the 3rd is power. I used to have an expensive antennae in my Mk4 that only dropped signal in very few locations, I'm running a Chinese antennae on my Mk5, for 1/4 price it has 98% of the performance - it works very well

    Hi from Dublin

Welcome it sounds like your indicator stalk is broken, Common issue. Replacement is straight forward, biggest hurdle is getting the air bag off and then the wheel
  16. They are pretty tuff, but I would put a strip of wood to stop it folding in on itself
  17. This is the same GRP material used for front panels Buyer is going to get a lot of benefits: faster warm up, slightly improved fuel consumption and the engine bay will stay a lot cleaner - kind of wish I'd asked myself!
  18. Welcome - Definitely need to look on the continent, ebay.FR or DE probably a good start - your in the best location for getting over the channel - do a booze and fags run on the return!
  19. Yes - that's the SKC - secret key code Its been a while since I last messed with one of them, iirc this unlocks advanced functions in VCDS - the sort of stuff you can really screw up you VW, so only venture in if your really stupid or brave. I had to find mine on my Mk4 when the dash died, a VAG tacho cable and software to get the SKC +an excellent guide on ukmkiv's and my new clocks were coded in. The guide mentioned that the SKC usually gets given as a 4 digit number, but for vcds it asks for 5... so you put a 0 at the front. Wonder if the same or similar process works on the Lupo - same era as Mk4?
  20. If you have a dremmel cut some break lines to help the lens come out without damaging spoiler paint
  21. That sounds like too much of a coincidence for the indicator stalk to fail - did you Seal up the loom and block the hose? i would plug the motor back in and see if it stops the fault
  22. Nice find - Strategic use of heat gun will flatten the leather
  23. Afraid I don't see it like that - don't forget Vauxhaull driver was not paying attention, you could take the nutter completely out of the equation, Mr tigra should have left enough space to stop. Best to leave it to the insurance company to deal with, Sausage's film is enough evidence for them - that is if they can do anything with it. I would suggest Sausage keeps this at arms length - I witnessed a rear end outside my house - offered to be a witness as the other car drove off + spoke to police - my good deed turned into being harassed for information from the insurers for over 6 months just for a light ding.
