BEP51
Taken my Girlfriends car to Wayside St Albans on Friday. The impression I get is that I will be lucky to get a good will contribution. If they will not repair for free. I will be getting some quotes and taking VW to the small claims court.Has any one else tried this?plan to take them to court, small claims is fairly inexpensive, but i just havent got round to it yet, go for it mate, i will in time! VeeDub Paul
I had mine done by Heritage in Salisbury last February. In july I noticed some raising in the paint above the drivers seat on the roof. This progressed to runs in the paint under the lacquer along with pin point lumps in the paint. After 5 long months arguing the toss with them, threatening legal action and involving VW Customer Care, it's going back in on tuesday to have the roof repainted. They also didn't replace my windscreen captive seal either so thats beind redone. I expect it to be perfect this time as they were trying to say it was an outside influence on the paint but couldn't tell me what caused it. Was less than impressed with their service so we'll see how it comes back this time.
mike1
Took my 2001 Gti to the VW main dealer here in Jersey to get the bubbling looked at on my roof gutter, you can 100% see that it has come from underneath there is no chips in the paint etc, the paint hasnt even broken yet. They didnt take any paint thickness reading or any photo's but they have apparantly spoken to VW UK and it will not be covered by the warrenty and there is no good will. When i asked what the reason was they said it was due to where the rust was and the age and service history of the vehicle. They said if it had been in the middle of the roof then it would be a valid claim... so i said that they allways rust on the roof gutters its a common fault and it should be repaired. But they just replied VW UK have said no so you cannot make a claim. The age thing is a load of rubbish as well its still under 12 years old so age is irrelevant, the only thing that really lets me down is it was last serviced by VW at 36k and its now on 59k.Dont really know what to do now, never buying another VAG car thats for sure had to fight tooth and nail to get the coil pack recall done on my S3. piss take i tell you. Whats the point in even giving a warranty if your not going to honour it.
BEP51
they arnt being at all cooperative, there will have to be legal action at one point, maybe next time SFE pays me i will take them to small claims, see no reason why i could possibly lose. Will try a second time to get in touch with trading standards too at some point. ToJo
I think a list of everyone who has been refused lately should be created.Mine was refused even though the man at the dealership bodyshop was adoment that it would go through as he had done plenty before.I'm fed up arguing over the phone with someone who is making decisions without even seeing the car!Yes VW your cars are good but your customer service is appalling! Unkle G'sif
Shame..... car has had some pretty sketchy painting done to one wing and the bumper, so thought this would be a good time to get it all done at the same timeThanks for the replyIncidentally, my brother had exactly the same rust issue on his A6, with rust bubbling up from under the roof channels in about 8 or 9 different locations. Seems it may have been a wider issue with the designs as well as the rust proofing processG
SIMONG
ive heard that the the arosa does not suffer from the rust at the front of the gutter/screen area because they dont have the aluminium ends like the lupos do. is the right or are they both the same? Sir Loopalot
add pulmans vw in durham to the list of fail and limpwristedness... it was just plain unhelpfull and insulting the feedback from the assessmentgot an "egor" esque little man with glasses telling me that there is no such thing as a 12 year paint warranty, there is only a 3 year on newer cars (mine is 01), he didn't even know there was 3 spots of bubbling in total on the roof gutters either side, but give the guy a medal he found 1/3 and proceeded to tell me that its mechanical damage... yep, apparently the rubber seals rub the paint off underneath over time... so apparently this is my own fault for using the car and not being fully versed in all that is the lupo "i knew i shouldve paid more attention in lupo 101 at school"I looked at the guy and said "are you for real"... to which he said, well you have two marks on your bonnet and a mark on the rear quarter "i have two annoying little 12yo kids with microscooters on my street that suck ballz and are to scared to actually go down the actual skate park, so scooter like a pair of labotomized shetland ponies on speed, whilst tampering with the neighbors cars and taking pictures in attempts to look cool"however I digress, he then continued to tell me how there is a mark on one of the ends of the bump strip on the door, and that my alloys have a couple of flakes of paint off... at this point i was rather pi**ed... said to the guy "do you remember the last time you went to the doctors, to which he replied yes... well did they take a half assed glance at you and tell you to get lost cos your half bald and have glasses???... its an 11yo car what do you expect, stop wasting my time get on the phone to newton abbot and sort my freaking car out...the repports being sent to head office apparently, but im in no way happy... im also hoping im correct in thinking that it is a 12y warranty.it is definately bubbling from under the gutters, even got full vw + vw specialist service history, which they wernt one bit interested inanyways hope this has been informative and entertaining, hahaon a foot note, hats off to the canteen staff, got two free drinks and a free cake, as well as some good banter xD
Silver!
It's not a 12 year paint warranty, but a 12 year anti perferation (rust) warranty, which states Three-Year Paint warrantyAll Volkswagen passenger cars are provided with a warranty for a period of 3 years from the date of first registration against any manufacturing defects with the paintwork. The only preconditions are:The defect must be reported to a member of the Volkswagen Authorised Network as soon as it is discovered. This must of course be within the warranty period. The defect must not be due to external influences such as accident damage, climatic, thermal, chemical or industrial pollution, insufficient care or maintenance. This will be determined by the member of the Volkswagen Authorised Network at the time of inspection. Body protection warrantyAll current Volkswagen vehicles are fully protected during manufacture against through corrosion for 12 years from the date of first registration (6 years for the Sharan models). The only preconditions are:The defect must be reported to a member of the Volkswagen Authorised Network as soon as it is discovered and within the warranty period. The perforation must not have been caused originally by damage, neglect, insufficient care or maintenance or by external rusting.A member of the Volkswagen Authorised Network must be advised about any rusting as soon as it is found. All body repairs will be carried out promptly in accordance with the manufacturer's specification and procedures, using only approved parts and materials, so the original level of anti-corrosion protection is maintained.http://www.volkswagen.co.uk/owners/warranty/factory/terms
Joti
Just read the whole thread start to finish.I don't see why some people have the FSH thing thrown back at them - when you cars goes for a service, they would do sod all to your bodywork/paintwork anyway!Rust coming from underneath would have appeared just as quickly wherever the car was serviced!?
