  1. Took my 2001 Gti to the VW main dealer here in Jersey to get the bubbling looked at on my roof gutter, you can 100% see that it has come from underneath there is no chips in the paint etc, the paint hasnt even broken yet. They didnt take any paint thickness reading or any photo's but they have apparantly spoken to VW UK and it will not be covered by the warrenty and there is no good will. When i asked what the reason was they said it was due to where the rust was and the age and service history of the vehicle. They said if it had been in the middle of the roof then it would be a valid claim... so i said that they allways rust on the roof gutters its a common fault and it should be repaired. But they just replied VW UK have said no so you cannot make a claim. The age thing is a load of rubbish as well its still under 12 years old so age is irrelevant, the only thing that really lets me down is it was last serviced by VW at 36k and its now on 59k. Dont really know what to do now, never buying another VAG car thats for sure had to fight tooth and nail to get the coil pack recall done on my S3. piss take i tell you. Whats the point in even giving a warranty if your not going to honour it.
  2. Ok cheers mate ill have to have a look when its not so bloody cold.
  3. I take it its going to be the microswitch in the drivers door? where abouts is it located.. I dont know about VW, but anit hijacking ive seen in other cars automatically locks the doors after a set period of time (ie 30 seconds) when the car is stationary then they unlock themselves after a set speed normally around 15mph. what would be the point of the doors locking at 15mph? who the hell is going to try and open your door while moving. the doors needs to be locked when stationary so you cant be hijacked..
  4. Interior light works when i open the doors, deffo anit hijacking. And no the doors wont lock if you leave the keys in the ignition, but if there not in the ignition then it will lock. and its allways the time that there not in the ignition you will shut them in the car and get locked out so im going to get it turned off. I dont live in some eastern block european country so have no need for it.
  5. Thats great, cheers for the reply. Can the anti hijacking be turned off without using vag com? as i can see it being a bit annoying. especially if i leave the key in the car by accident.
  6. Hi Guys, Just bought myself a GTI today, got it for a good price but it has a couple of issues. - Passenger window doesn't go up and down at all, light in the switch is on but nothing happens. Tried it from the drivers side switch as well but still doesnt work so dont think its a switch issue. -Central locking: when i open the car with the fob it unlocks the drivers door but not the passenger door or boot. to open the passenger door and boot i have to press the button again. But when i lock the car it locks both? Also the doors automatically lock themselves after like 30 seconds if i dont put the key in the ignition, even with the door open. -My bonnet also wont open when i pull the lever (worked when i viewed the car), it seems very stiff but even when i pull it all the way back it does nothing. Ive sprayer some WD40 onto the catch through the gap between the bonnet and grill, so hopefully that will do the job once its soaked in but if it doesnt work does anyone have any ideas how to get it open? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers Mike
  7. Looks like im going to have to spend hours refurbing my turbines to find out then haha. Cheers anyway
  8. Hi, has anyone got any pictures of what clio turbines look on a GTi? thinking of getting a set, but done want to get them if they dont look decent. Cheers
  9. looks like somebody has tried to change the oil presure switch and cross threaded it so they drilled and tapped the hole in the head to accept a different oil presure switch with a different diameter. either that or you have the wrong oil pressure switch. if you do have the right one then you will need to get a helicoil fitted the the hole to reduce it to the proper size. wich is a head off job really. you can do it with the head on with a magnetic tap and a small magnet but i dont recomend it cause you run the risk of not getting all the swarf back out with the magnet.
  10. as a tempory measure i think im gonna run it on injection that way i can save enough money for the cams and head i want. and not have to get the carbs set up twice. so is it literally plug and play as there both cable throtle, or is the ecu plug, sensors ect different? also ill be fitting a 4 branch at the same time. will it fit straight on cause im using an AFH or will it need modfing, if so wat part needs modding cheers mike
  11. wat exhaust have you got on there? or is it a custom one?
