A place i used to work at was a main distributor for EBC brakes, to be totally honest they are ok as a get you braking item but totally crap under pressure and for the price thats not good!!!! The discs are nothing more than standard spec but with a few cosmetic dimples or lines and the pads are as i was informed by their own sales rep "so inconsistent". Having had to use them on a race car we found that issue really became apparent. But thats my own view on EBC. I wonder if they ever sorted the rear pads falling out of the Clio williams?! hmmmm
EBC claim that using their products vs other products of similair quality in the market area have a competitive advantage in regards to brake dust. Thats the biggest load of bull I've hear and my original brakes gave less brake dust! I currently have EBC grooved, vented and dimpled discs and green stuff pads and I'd go as far as advising using original components rather than the suppose benefits EBC offer. Theres little difference on the Lupo GTI Sorry for slatting products which your selling but I think EBC have too much credit promoted by street racing youths who admire "coloured brake pads"
You have wrote off four?? Sorry! Edit: This was ment as a light hearted joke, if you have wrote off four 106's, thats very sad and unlucky. Hope you decide to get a GTI, they are great cars. Mod's will probably now remove this comment because it's offensive, rasist or something else. Mark.. You've had both, so your a perfect judge.
Well this is what i thought... £400 sounded mega expensive. Then i broke it down if someone was to get it done. You could find a knackered RM for about £50-100 Split it and you will need a nice set of shiney bolts - £30 Youd need a new 3.5 inch dish - £150 Painting it - £60 And a bit of circular glass (which would have to be toughened as its a table) - £80-100 So your still looking at about the £300-£400 mark. there must be a cheaper way, i want one BAD!
in my sport i just took the back flap off, squeezed my hand down, yanked the little bugger out of the housing then replaced. definately a squeeze and you will get scratches but it builds character. just use ya guns to push the intake pipe back a bit, it wont break. man up and get stuck in
thing is if you dont write ya lupo gti off then you are unlikely to lose much money from 4 grand even after a couple of years. they really hold their value. also im not sure how a 106gti would do a lupo gti in a straight line as the lupo is "on paper" (parkers) quicker to 60 so with the same mods in a straight line the lupo should do it. all depends on the driver. i did my mate in his 04 190ps audi a4 s line quattro and he caught up at 120 so it all down to reactions and driver capability. im suprised you survived a crash in a 106 gti tbh. but if poogeots are your thing. stick to em cus lupo gtis arent for chavs. if you do decide on a lupo gti, welcome to the club and make sure its a 6 speed
Aye, he said it was properly fast too. 8.7 seconds. Then he drives something that'll do it in 5 and says it barely moves. Of course I'd take a Lupo over a Twingo any day!
I actually despise the Twingo. The Fiat 500 Abarth was way cooler! IMHO, the Lupo GTi does everything the Twingo does, similar power but less weight, nicer interior in the Lupo, and it's better looking. So much for progression eh...
Well at the very least it will be just as good if not better, but please promise not to crash the Lupo if you get one, feel free to crash as many 106's as you like!!!! Cheers, James.
Liked the episode a lot. James May getting thrown around in the back of that BMW was good. Eric Bana (not a fan) was good. Romanian Peoples Palace was WTF? amazing. Those tunnels must be huge. And that road looked unneccessarily twisty, just for the hell of it. Is nice.
Sorry it's just everyone was jumping on him saying he wrote off 4 cars then saying he shouldn't buy a Lupo incase he crashes it... it's a proper dickhead way to welcome someone to the forum. Erm, going slightly back on topic, the general consensus of my post was that the Lupo is a 'mature, refined' GTi, and the 106 is a bit more raw and less comfortable.
i have done this before on my mk3 golf, as long as u have central lockin it will work, u jus need the kit from the website, or ebay and plug n play, then get the spare key cut at a ey cuttin shop, works a treat, if u need any help i can help any way as mine was easy to do and have helpped few mates
Hey everyone, we've done a blog just to basically explain what the difference between the Green, Red and Yellowstuff pad is and all the discs. Call it a bit of a guide You can check this out here: http://tinyurl.com/yaztf5e Thanks
