  1. I have had great value out of Topran stuff, their stuff usually punches at a level higher than their price commands despite the really dodgy sounding name! - But never tried bushes by them, interesting to see how they work out for you, remember the rattling will die down after about a 100 miles

    My new car

Those buttons are well hidden, I struggled to find mine, had to look it up in users manual - nice clean Gti you have there
  3. Should be different, LH one below (non gti BJ's) is Left side - joint slightly forward off centre right hand side mirror of LH
  4. is that your christmas car already being broken? or is it going Tdi?
  5. I do like those rims... but why is the centre cap VW so big?
  6. Hey - nice set up - what suspension are you running? and is that a custom inlet plenum
  7. definitely an option, but personally already having an LSD in my Lupo's 6 speed box doesn't really encourage me to get a new type of engine and box! + all the body mods, loom, driveshafts, intercooler, intercooler pipework...
  8. Corrupting, easy power from a 1.8t is very tempting, but when you look into how much work is involved to get there + the weight gain it takes the shine off for me too.
  9. Does it rev's past 3k cold? has it been driven + has normal power cold or is this all just in the garage ? Coilpack on the way out? - have they tried a good spare?

Copy of the VAG tool T10075 arrived today from Serbia of all places: Tried buying these at TPS, apparently they don't sell the tools - it has to be dealer - they could check price, the T10075 is on back order and this one was cheaper. Still on the lookout for a T10073.
  11. Is that just in the public yard? They have another level where the car gets put in a bay and you pick what you want off it. They are a bit OTT with safety compared to other yards - those grubby orange hi-viz vests - wish they put as much care into clearing the yards of humans as they do H&S - They managed to lock me in my local one, it was a very tense 3/4 of an hour wait to be released.... but they don't have dogs so it could have been a lot worse.
  12. Doors would be a good buy for someone - U-pull-it charge £22 for the door shell £45 for the entire door
  13. We are fortunate to have a voice of the forum who sums this up very well - it's Liam Nieeson, however he should have said "Lupo" but fluffed his line and said "Daughter": The particular skill set he was referring to that we have as a forum is diagnosis of cold start issues and weird noises... Seriously, that's a crappy situation, hope you get your Lupo sorted with a new home.

Not much to report except getting all these: Orange things are plastic razor blades - should be non damaging scrapers Piston ring compressors - should have looked into these more, so no surprise I got ripped off with these on amazon Valve tool - this is a replacement for my old one I had destroyed taking bent valves out of my ABF Fasteners from TPS - main, con rods, , cam box, cam pulley bolts & gugeon pin clips. Annoyingly I got served by someone new and didnt get discount! Because my garage is so small, before I can begin tearing into the spare engine I need to move the Lupo out onto the drive. will probably wait till the festive break to do this. all that is left is to get is the bearing shells and rings + a few more sundries.
  15. That listing information I quoted must be incorrect, 3L control arms don't have ball joints like other lupo's: They appear to be press fit / insert into the alloy arm
  16. Interesting thread you found. Did you search on the part number shown on the box? Don't buy these until someone can confirm (assuming they ship to Korea) - I found an Autodoc listing for the RTS part - as 6E0407365 for fitment on Lupo 3L - I have no 3L experience, does that sound plausible? but it seems odd to me that they use the same physical dimensions as Gti, but different part number - it could be the 3L has Alloy control arms, the flat part is likely to be thicker as they connect differently, thus the part number difference. The issue I have found is part sellers just substitute other manufacturer parts for ones listed, also seen aftermarket manufacturer parts catalogues incorrect too. I was also attempting to find a cheaper ball joint solution, I read of people having issues with drive shaft CV's after fitment of standard non Gti short ball joints pushing the joints inwards. I ended up getting genuine ones.
  17. Are you looking for good used hinges from other models? I would take your old hinges on a day trip to a scrap yard to see what matches up, a lot will be dictated by how thick the door is and pivot point
  18. IMO.. If you get rear ended at low speed - With the the original bumper & internal iron your Lupo usually will live to fight another day. Without the bumper and iron it will very likely your Lupo will get written off.
  19. If you really get stuck for replacement AC compressor, can I suggest you contact Orchideuro they import parts from Europe by the container to Pennsylvania. I suspect its not the quickest of services, but you are happy to wait. I understand the guy in charge is Jamie Orr, a good name in VW community, he does some mad 5 day builds on You tube

Oil pump showed up yesterday. Been reading through Casper Gti's excellent build thread, he had a few hick-ups on his build. Got some great tips buried in that thread - getting some Graphogen for bearings and Torco engine assembly lube. Thanks for the advice - the spare engine apparently had 90k miles on it, I am going to take the block to be checked over at a shop to get their opinion, thought new rings needed a deglazed bore to seal in properly Yes - start and finish outside the bore with lots and lots of lube oil
  21. Nice one Sausage - how easy hard was the switch to replace?
