hiya guys,

I'm new here obviously! Just wondering if anyone has had problems with their insurance on their lupo's?

my boyfriend has a g40 polo and since i saw it i have been obsessed with vw's! I'm learning to drive now and trying to convince my dad to buy me a lupo 1.4 tdi, but some of the insurance quotes are ridiculous!!

Wondered if anyone had a way around it, or any ideas how i could get around it?!

cheers! :)

Its insurance, and although it's a diesel it's still turbo'd so that'll add to it. - Add family members, higher excess etc.

If it makes you feel better i paid £4000 last year on a 1.4 75bhp petrol :)

yea exactly, i think thats the only way to go! we've tried adding lots of family members etc and it has worked, but because i want to lower it etc its going to look a bit dodgy aha!

omg! thats a bit steep aha! but i suppose its a loop its worth it! :)

thanks a lot guys! all of this helps so much!

Big lover of multicar!

Got a lupo sport and a tdi, managed to insure them both for £1050.

Only been driving 10 months and I'm still 17 :)

To bring the costs down, loads of female named drivers! ;)

OMG HOW DID YOU DO THAT! aha!! i need those quotes in my life:')!!

have you rang any insurers up? or just online quotes

my dad has rung up a couple, and its till the same:/ but the online ones are just ridiculous.

and i thought it would be cheaper for girls! but i was wrong aha!

Pick up the phone and ring every company in the yellow pages, there is no cheats, short cuts or magic tricks.

The only thing you can do is limit the miles, get an alarm/immobiliser and add parents as named drivers and do pass plus etc etc

Yes i think thats what i am going to do:) it is the only way! Going to have to sacrifice some mods i think!

its not all bad, TDI's (Especially the later ones) are really nice spec as standard anyway.

Can't believe the quotes on here. My 1.4 TDI is £380 a year with Autotrader. That's with a Jabbasport re-map to 109 BHP and lowered slightly. Admiral wouldn't touch me when I got it 5 years ago but Autotrader accepted it for £295. It's gone up by about £20 a year but still a bargain compared to most by the looks of it.

Mind you, being 58 helps!!!

i was just about to have a moan about mine but feel quite happy reading these, im 28, 6 years ncb on the lupo 1.4s £399, 7 years ncb on 300zxtt loads of mods, £550.

Cant afford to insure both this year, so its just the lupo.

Im with admiral multicar, the best by far :swerve: , altho i cant afford to crash as like Pete91 said they dont pay out for mods even tho you declare them which is daft.

I think your a bit stupid paying £4k for insurance :surprise: , why dont you go on your mum or dads insurance for a couple of years, When i was 17 (in the good old days  ) i had a punto 1.2, cost 4k for the car, £1200 to insure on my mums policy.

You just have to keep looking and try every place in the country, and it doesnt change when you hit 25, i must have spent about 10k  on insurance for the 300zxtt in 6 years.

Put parents on your policy as other drivers, if your parents are divorced, say you live at the address with the cheapest quote, (if it gets nicked at the other, ur just visiting) you keep your car in a LOCKED GARAGE or ON A PUBLIC ROAD - these are cheaper then a driveway, you only do 3000miles a year.

best thing for me, one more year and the 300zxtt will be a classic car!!!! YAY. then i'll be paying less for a 3litre twin turbo then a 1.4 lupo, anyway, im rambling.

Hi,

Have a vw lupo 1.4tdi and im eighteen years old, the way I was insured for starters was to go on my Dads insurance for £680 but I think the co-op car insurance do it for about £1500 or around there. Heard that Elephant insurance is cheap too, good luck and have fun, I love my tractor and its pretty quick too :D
