Looking at the 1.4 16v S

Excuse my stupidity, but why is the Lupo 1.4 16v S only 75bhp when my friends 1.4 16v (Corsa)are pushing 90, am i missing something?

It's all down to the camshafts, throttle body and ECU tbh.

There are two 1.4 16v's. the entry model only has 75bhp where as the Sport has 100bhp. Same engine, two very different set-ups. Sports are also higher spec all around because of the extra power i.e. rear disc brakes.

ah ok then

so if i wanted to increase the bhp

i would need to improve the.... throttle body (whatever that is) and ecu?

If you wanted to improve the power. Sell the 1.4 16v 75bhp and buy the Lupo Sport 1.4 16vbhp. That would be far cheaper.

If your planning on spending serious money then keep your 1.4 16v 75hp as the throttle body on that is driven by a cable and not fly-by wire. So it's easier to get a larger diameter throttle body that would be compatible with your car, then you can change the camshafts in the engine (head off job) for a higher ratio and finally you can get your ECU remapped...although after all that you may as have gone and bought a GTI.

My lupo 1.4 16V (God bless it's soul) had 100bhp, however it was not a sport model.

I asked my mechanic and still don't really understand.... But hey ho.

No way, it must have had an engine transplant in the past.

Rolling road proven?

Aye, no lies. It had one ex-owner, a women who loved it and it even had a cushion in the back with her surname on it when I got it.

No engine transplant, no modifications, just 100bhp not 75bhp. Go ask VW why...

Did you RR it then? Thats very strange, wonder what the engine code was
