bowers155
pretty sure ive heard 22psi out of a k03?
scotty_82
Can you use 1.8t rods on a 1.4 lupo engine?
bowers155
im pretty sure dimensions are dead on but the small end are 20mm instead on 17mm so piston and pin being made to 20mm will make perfect set-up really making things slightly cheaper. get rods out of a 1.8t down the scrappy cheaper clean them up with new bearings
scotty_82
I'm sure the bam and another engine code came with stronger rods than the others
heartagram
I've also heard about BAMs having strong internals.

grantmax
I'm sure the bam and another engine code came with stronger rods than the othersI've also heard about BAMs having strong internals. You would be wrong the strongest internals were in the AGU ... they can take upto 700bhp ...just cus the BAM was runnign the most power standard does not mean it has the strongest internals.however, I dont think it will make that much difference in yours anyway. scotty_82
HA HA HA HA HA HA stock agu internals with 700bhp, i cant see it happening.Stock agu can come in 150bhp form so that an engine with parts that can take 4.5 times its original power ?????????Although i do know the agu comes with a better ported head, Edited July 10, 2012 by scotty_82

grantmax
Source?me and my mates heard in the wind that the AGU's were the strongest so we started to look around a bit. found out they are indeed the strongest through a few tuning companies. we then heard about the 700 bhp .. if i am honest ... havent found one yet ... but a chap in hildenborough (kent) was running just shy of 500!! ... still ridiculous!!! scotty_82
Pmsl at the pub figures500bhp on standard internals is probably **** too Edited July 11, 2012 by scotty_82
Cooper_GTI
The AGU is amongst the weaker of the bunch, however, the head can flow more than any other model. The BAM has forged conrods, where others don't, but is still only capable of 350bhp, and at this power, it is still the rods that are the weakpoint. An AGU is safe to roughly 250bhp.Either way, if the rods fit your little 1400, then any of the 20VT items will be far superior to the standard items! Norpan
The AGU has the same rods as the APY and BAM.AGU has die cast pistons and BAM has a low friction type thats coated. The APY has forged pistons that looks like the AGU´sSame crankshaft in all 3.The AUM (150hp) and AUQ (180hp) has the weekest rods and pistons anddont handle more Hp than around 250-300.The AGU is a reliable and good engine to start with if you dont get your hands of an APY bottom (210hp S3)The head of the AGU has the higest flow. The best thing to do just to be sure when you pass the 300hp mark is to change rods to aftermarket forged ones..I doubt that 1,8t rods will fit in a 1,4 but i dont know for sure.... truCido
I've also been told that 1.8T rods will fit and all that needs changing is the pin. However I can't remember who told me :s
