Silver!
There was a guy trying to get one imported a few years back, but he disappeared. Think he was trying to do it bit by bit though. Oh and hi and welcome!

danoid
Patroddy - A "gray car" simple means import car, not quite sure why gray and not pink or purple etc etcI honestly couldn't imagine driving a Lupo in US, it'll get ran over by all the big cars everyone drives. We went to America and was in a fairly big car and felt intimidated by everyones MAHOOSIVE cars!Saying that the owner (I believe) or Jalopnik imported a Peugeot 206 GTI to America, cost him a bit though. The main problem is parts, if it's wasn't really released over there, getting parts will be a pain int bum
danoid
Opps Peugeot 205 GTI, have a read of this link, it's interesting and glad he knew a bit about the law, so he managed ot keep the original plates http://jalopnik.com/5892536/how-to-import-a-foreign-car-legally
Philplop
There was that bloke from Nothing Leaves Stock who was trying to do it in bits so it wasn't classed as a car, but he ended up getting scammed by the guy on this side I think, who took his money and buggered off.Wasn't it the guy who bought the black mk5 Golf on cream Bentley wheels? I remember him being all over the forums at that point, which is probably why he was trusted to do it, then just disappeared.Remembered the Americans username, it's "josh@nls". Doing a search only brings up one post by him though, of him trying to sell the car. Dunno if a mod can find his other 48 posts he apparently has... JB1.0e
I did see a 3l TDI for sale in the US online a few years ago. There is some evidence that the Lupo was crash tested in Canada: and here:http://www.theeestory.com/search?page=2033&query=a&type=postshttp://www.auto123.com/en/car-reviews/new/transport-canadas-garage-2004-volkswagen-lupo?artid=62777Took a bit of finding...http://www-nrd.nhtsa.dot.gov/database/aspx/searchmedia2.aspx?database=v&tstno=4507&mediatype=r&r_tstno=4507http://www-nrd.nhtsa.dot.gov/database/aspx/searchmedia2.aspx?database=v&tstno=4507&mediatype=v&v_tstno=4507I was reading elsewhere that to import a vehicle that was never offered for sale in the US you have to pay for the crash testing so you have to buy several cars. Import them and then pay for the testing. Surely I must have misunderstood that
James827
Surely a 3L would be much better american import? What with it being LHD and all?
