H3NRY
What's a good one for a 1.0? im thinking of K&N or PIPERX. i know there will be no real advantage, but i'm only after a little bit of noise. I know cone filters are better for noise, but something more subtle. so my question is - will either of these make my car sound different and which is best?Cheers! Ben™
If you want noise and nothing else, you'll need two panel filters...Then get a drill and make some holes in your airbox, pm Little green giant for more information.
H3NRY
I wouldnt say i'm after noise and nothing else, that's bad wording on my part. what i am after is a 'nicer' sound.
Ben™
It's what I plan to do when I have some money, k&n panel filters will do, but you will need two.Yeah, everyone has a different opinion of "nice" though .
Newnesie
can i ask why you need two ben? Cheers
Ben™
The lupo has two, ask vw why, not me!
Thealex
Are they on top of eachother? If so, doesn't that stop a bit of the airfeed?
Ben™
No, they're side by side.
Newnesie
hmmm pretty sure when i undid my airbox there was only one filter in there

treblet
There's not 2 filters, only 1.Unless the 1.0l has 2 and I've never noticed!
H3NRY
There's not 2 filters, only 1.Unless the 1.0l has 2 and I've never noticed!I cant remember the thread, but i read that some people shove two in for some reason. Surely that's restricting the airflow though?
Bloomers
There's two in my 1.0l
Brother_Will
Mystery solved maybe, the K&N website says you can use the same panel filter on a 1.0 or 1.4 but a 1.4 needs 2 filters while the 1.0 only needs one. Newnesie
my 1.4 definitely only uses one filter normally, not too sure if it would need 2 if i was to update to K&N
AshArosa
If its a mk2 1.0L lupo/arosa they all have two panel filters. The engine cover is the airbox as its screwed on underneath at the back of the engine cover.
Lupo-Joe
i have a 1.0L X reg and i service my car and i can say 100% they have on this model
Big Jase
they require 2 filters as the amount of air the highly tuned engine requires is phenomenal
allan_tifa
bought 2 omp ones on ebay £5 each feels more responsive but not really any louder heres a link http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/OMP-Sports-Air-Filter-SEAT-Arosa-1-0L-99-03-/350358760471?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item5193026c17
Billster
like asharosa said, if its a mk2 u need 2 panel filters as its side by side, i know this for sure cos i did the same thing allan tifa done bought omp filters of flee bay and its needed 2give better response but not really much on sound, better to drive
jarynn
So how do I get a nicer sound out it by driller holes into the airbox... (where abouts.. under where the filters are?) pics please I replaced the 2 standard filters with K&N panel filters... not much of a difference in sound IMO
