  1. Car has been getting filthy over the winter but have a little news. Made 152bhp on a local dyno that I used to check if the motor was actually running "dangerously lean" as I was told by an engineering firm mentioned earlier in this thread - i've discovered that was with a cracked downpipe, exhaust that blew like a dyson, buggered driveshafts and without being tuned any more than standard marks. I changed the driveshafts for rebuilt items, had the Jetex 2-box system and stainless manifold fitted and the car definitely felt better. I've completed the run-in period on the new motor so I stopped at Stealth Racing on the way back from manchester and Vince and the guys did a full fuelling and timing setup on their dyno with the following results: 175bhp @ 6591rpm and 148ft/lb @ 5584rpm (not bad for an engine that's running "dangerously lean" huh?) I realise these are just numbers but it's nearly the 180bhp figure I'm aiming for and at least shows me what i've chosen to do is working. Since then i've been thinking about cams for more power - but also ordered some suspension upgrades. ST front and rear ARBs 22/25mm front/rear Powerflex 'black' rear beam mounting bushes. Camber adjustable, spherical bearing top mounts (will be mounted to add castor, not camber) Hopefully the steering response at the front will be much sharper, and the stiffer rear end will be more active in reducing understeer. Dampening settings will be adjusted to suit once its all fitted and tested. Been very tempted to go all fixed bucket seats and stuff but i like the idea of a B-road weapon that has show car-ish looks.
  2. Gonna see how we do on the RR. These guys got 180 out of an 1800 with a flowed head and high compression but i'm keeping it optimistic.
  3. Just to keep this updated. I blew up the bottom end. Spun number 4 big end and ruined the crank. Currently Roy at AutoBarn is assembling a 2L 9A engine and putting that in with my KR head. ARP con-rod bolts All new bearings Piston rings Gaskets & seals Head skimmed Head ported and gas flowed 3 angle seats 30 degree back-cut valves Valve guides Stem seals WUR mod Metering head shimmed Rolling road tune at CFM Engineering Hoping to get somewhere between 170 and 180bhp and 150 lb/ft Should have gone high compression forged internals while it was all out but i never intended on going mad with the engine. It just broke so was a good excuse.
  4. Haven't taken any pictures of anything i've done but since the last update it's had a suspension/steering refresh... Has a wheel bearing replaced as it was noisy when turning left. New wishbones Superpro polybushings in the wishbones new drop links new ball joints 'fast road' geometry setup I've also got a solid front engine mount on the way. Should be a hoot to drive. The difference in turns is marked with the new bushings. Still need to trip up to stealth and get it set up like i was going to two days after my head gasket went. I'm on the hunt for a four branch manifold if anyone knows of any for sale? Other than that it's doing the 300 miles to uni and back every week no issues apart from a loose PAS belt and intermittent flashing coolant warning light (electrical issue)
  5. Took some better photos.
  6. Wheels are on. They scrub over bigger bumps. Will take better photos later.
  7. Got this. And these. Did this. Perfect with 195/45/15.Only a test fit, may lower the front a bit and camber the wheels in very slightly to guarantee no rubbing. Head gasket is gone ATM so booked in for fixing on the 3rd.
  8. Picked up the bolts from chrome plating. Bolted and sealed a wheel together and plonked it in front of the car.
  9. Washed the car and fitted a NOS rear badge that my dad thought would 'come in handy' back in the 80s when he worked for VW. My alternator belt is also 30 year old NOS. Went to the scrapyard and picked up these polished inserts too. Paint looks nice!
  10. OZ Vega. Gotta chrome the OZ bolts and then buy valves, adapters and get centre caps made. Very pleased. (iphone photos)Edit: Bolts are now with the chroming place.
  11. Nitromors simply doesn't work at all, so 9 hours stripping lacquer with a scotchbrite later........ Tehe.
  12. Thanks, the seller did this and it all checks out. He didn't take this as concrete proof though as it's not been on the road all its life by the looks of it. Im certain it is - you just have to look at the interior to tell.
  13. I might have joined up to look at the classifieds. I don't actually know.
  14. Cheers! Just trying to work out offsets at the minute. Want BBS but dont want to pay BBS prices so looking at other splits. Want to take it to a rolling road and get it tuned just to make sure its running spot on.
  15. Had this for about 3 weeks. It's my only car and will see a fair bit of the road (400m a week). It's already very solid body-wise and mechanically. Sold as unwarranted 70k miles but its 100% believable - just no concrete proof as very little history. Mods I know about are: Full re-spray (no rust, no fade, very high standard) KONI fully adjustable coilovers. Magnex stainless exhaust. VW Sebring Alloys (tatty) Plans are to clean it lots, service it lots, fix all the niggles and keep it timeless. (Sorry about the Clio) I'll try to post any major updates, but I'm not good at documenting every little thing. I've already re-attatched a driveshaft as it was put in finger-tight by some moron, had an alignment done, replaced a coolant hose and replaced the bulbs in the clocks (yawn).
  16. http://forums.clublupo.co.uk/index.php?/classifieds/item/2640-2004-vw-lupo-10e-fsh-pics-inside/ Need it gone!! Just sitting on the drive doing nothing.
  17. Deposit paid on the new car. Would like to sell this now.
  18. Still for sale - as ever lots of interested parties, no viewings. Should be sorting the replacement this week too. LINK TO ADVERT
  19. Thanks mate. Will be a shame when it goes.
  20. Advert now in the classifieds.
  21. Going up for sale in the next couple of weeks. PM me if you want any details before I post the ad. Henry
  22. Oh dear. This is the worst scenario after that comment. Use urban dictionary. Lol
  23. I've always wondered if this scenario ever really happened. You lucky f***.
