LiamD
Yeah apparently it's not common on them, especially in a GT shell.Dunno if they were bull ****ting me or not but I'm not complaining!

electricpanda
I read on poloG40 site that they never did a g40 with electric windows? Or was that the mk2lhd one?
LiamD
Well mine has them, but a Passat/Mk3 Golf sacrificed it's electrics!
JB1.0e
I really like MK3 Polo's my Mum had only from new in 1993 it was our first VW and I loved it. Big fan of the G40, no silly bodykit just an innocent looking Polo, your adds to the appeal with even more power!I remember reading in Volkswagen Audi car as it was known then that they considered lack of Electric windows in the G40 where a major disadvantage when considering its competition. They went on in the article to say there was a kit and they were trying to prove to the factory that it was possible to fit the window motors into the doors of a MK3. Do you know if this was a kit that was fitted or did the factory find away?Answered before I had finished! My brain is too slow. LiamD
If I have a hunt through the original build photos I may be able to find how Rae fitted the electric windows. I know it's Passat/Mk3 switchgear though.I really want a Polo GT as a daily now, so if anyone has one, and wants a swap + cash their way for my Mk3 TDi, then let me know! LiamD
My planzzz have changed. I'm giving up on trying to think up my own Eaton kit and I'm going to bail out and buy this - ClickySolves all my problems with boost pipes, pulleys and drive belts - all of which I would need to replace. It also saves me having to calculate the right sizes for pulleys, finding the right belts, then paying for the brackets to be fabricated... it really does seem easier to just buy a kit I'm going to phone AW Tracksport tomorrow and get their advice, and they may even fit it since they aren't too far away from me... well, 2 1/2 hours on a trailer Hopefully, I shall purchase this at the end of the month. Unless I can arrange a finance plan with my Dad - unlikely LOL.
Jowey
ooooooooh man that'll be goodI have a friend with a real beat up Polo GT and he's craving a Eaton'd g40 but says he cant justify spending that amount of money on an old heap...make sure you get some vids up once complete .. so i can convince him
LiamD
That's the beauty of it for me - it's a beat up shed, but with some grunt. Weirdly, it's one of my dream cars so I have no problem spending a fortune on it. Including the car I've already spent 3k, when it's done I imagine nearer to 4k.Tell him to watch this video, the noise is epic - http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=XPhTFQFMI5QI'll be doing my own videos though, amateur G40 porn
Jowey
Yeh to me thats the beauty of it too.. but he has kids etc. so i suppose he has to consider them.Love it, it sounds like a very fast air-raid siren

LiamD
He runs his Trans Am, he's done a 12.9 without nozzzzzzz, but it'll be faster next year I said if he puts road tyres on instead of slicks I'll race him, but he won't... so I said from 20mph roll on the A174 "parkway"... he said no... gay! LiamD
Depending on my loan application with the Bank of Dad, it should be going in to AWT to get it all fitted in March, maybe April. He'll also be mapping my ECU to suit and tuning it on the RR they have. Power figures might be a little conservative at first but that can always be changed, prolly start at around 12-14psi of boost before eventually going up to 17psi and a more suitable cam I'm proper stoked about it! Haha.I'd say May Dub Pres FO SHO* *If I don't die in a horrific Polo related accident beforehand.
Philplop
the Bank of DadThat's who I get my car-buying loans from too, can't beat their interest rates. Glad to see it all coming together.
LiamD
Haha yeah. I try to avoid getting money off my Dad because I don't want the stigma of "daddy paying" for my stuff, but needs must and he wants to see the car work as much as me so I'm sure he would help. That's one benefit of having a Dad who's into cars, LOL.First thing to sort is the head gasket, car needs to be driveable before it goes away. I'm paying for that though!
