nothing wrong with being from dorset, so what constitutes as a mountain then?

its all a matter of definition

For this reason, most mountains are classified using two factors:

1.the height of the summit above sea level - in the UK mountains must be over 610m (approx 2000ft) to be called 'mountains', and

2.the amount of re-ascent required on all sides from a neighbouring mountain to reach that summit is at least 30m (approx 100ft).

Pen y Fan is the highest peak in South Wales, situated in the Brecon Beacons National Park. At 886 metres (2,907 ft) above sea-level, it is also the highest peak in Britain south of the Snowdonia mountain range.

in my opinion.... thats a mountain

I was under that belief but the 'Mountain centre' people; who are really really quite patronising at times, (because they seem to think english people dont speak english or know how to put one foot in front of the other and walk...) called it mountain walking.

never mind,

and Silver! its 'whether'

Thank you. Corrected.

They probably like to say Mountain Walking to make themselves feel good.

Sound silly. walking, hill walking, scrambling, climbing, mountaineering. That about covers everything :)

Now don't you make me come down there and whoop your ass!

dorset gets instilled within you, it is the nicest place i know, and for someone of my age i've done a lot of travelling

at the end of the day we all have somewhere we like to call home, and dorset is the place for me
