Chap come on and knocked on my door yesterday asking if I was selling the Polo.

Hes offered me a straight swap for my Polo (as it is) for a 1989 4x4 Sapphire cosworth.

Its Burgandy, running over 270bhp and thats about as much as I know about it until he brings it round tonight.

This isnt the one obviously, but this is the colour.

Not sure what to do...

There's probably a reason for him selling...

Checked how much it'll cost to insure yet?

Thats the reason hes selling it, he cant afford to run it.

Just about to check with insurance, although Id expect its going to be as bad as the Scooby I looked at last year.

be very careful of the sierra cosworth once they go wrong they take thousnads to fix, know that from personnal experience

the 4 wheel drive kills some of the power you would expect to have immediately but stil a great car to drive just make sure the car is running perfectly before you commit to anything cos as i already said once they go wrong the go badly wrong

once my friend got his fixed he sold it on straight away as he wanted nothing more to do with it only to get a phonecall a few weeks after he sold it saying it wasnt running right even after thousands had ben spent on it

Lovely cars but not something I'd want to rely on day to day.

Friend of mine had one, needed a rebuild at 80k and although was damn quick (about 270bhp) it ended up costing him a lot more than just the insurance. I love em but I personally wouldn't swap a Polo for one.

Insurance group 20 but worth checking as it may not be that bad.

You fancy another project Andi.

Great car in there day but now its night

I wouldnt fancy running it as a daily, fuel bills, repair bills, insurance etc.

Fantastic for a weekend toy though.

Surely it can't be any less reliable than your Polo? :D

In all honesty though, they are a cool car, but i think they may have had their day as Bluloop said, it might just end up as a money pit, a bottomless one at that. Keep the Polo and concentrate on getting that damn Lupo finished! ;)

I too have a mate with a Sapphire 4x4 Cosworth. He wanted to 'live the dream' for ages, bought one last year and is similarly disappointed at the whole experience. It's not been problematic, but not what he'd hoped for. I pretty sure it's for sale at the mo'. I told him he should've stuck with his Caddy!
