The North East’s longest surviving micro was founded in Newcastle in 1982 in premises previously occupied by undertakers. Its location beside the former site of a local landmark, a 19th century big lamp, gave rise to the name. In 1996 the brewery moved to a renovated Grade II listed Victorian water pumping station in pleasant surroundings by the river Tyne. Opening a pub in the same building to add to their one other tied house.

Keelman (brewery tap), Grange Road, Newburn, (about 5 miles west of city centre) by Tyne Riverside Country Park.

If I still have my GTi then, I'll insure it for the day and come down. Might as well have one last run out in it! Shame it looks like a different car now :( but still love it. Phil how did you get on with those cycle carriers? Or has the collar bone been doing its usual thing?
