lexham
I have taken the plunge and ordered a new Golf GTi. Could not bear to part with the Lupo, so am keeping that as well and giving it to my other half. Unless someone really, really wants a mint 2002 reflex silver with a/c and sunroof, cd, tape, grey interior, always VW serviced (cam belt and all the trimmings at 40K).....After looking for ages at the options, driving most of them and discarding them just as fast, the Golf just seemed the best out of the bunch, although the R32 was tempting, £400 per year on road tax would be a little painful (as would 25 mpg I am sure). The Golf GTi drives brilliantly, like a grown up Lupo, but much quicker and more relaxed on the motorway, and has the same level of interior quality and fixtures that I have got used to in the 2+ years I have had my small silver one.So, soon (well once delivery is sorted out) to be a 2xGTi household. Then once the R36 Passat estate arrives, maybe one of them...well, a bit more space could always be handy.... Thats nearly 12 times as much than it is for mine. StroothWell if you've got the money to order a brand new car, Im sure you don't need reassurance if it was the correct decision or not.For a total girl question, what colour did you go for? vworks41
White looks mint, great choice and top car to.The only thing that would put me off buying a mk5 if i had that kind of cash, is the fact the mk6 will be coming along much sooner than every body thought. So the mk5 GTi will have had a short run really which is abit of a shame!! And for that kind of money i would want to stay as the new shape abit longer.
Clouseau
yes, but on the other side the shorter the run the less numbers on the road.
andyp
I think the mk5's look lush in the white

Kieron
Very nice. White is by far the best colour for the mk5. Good choice. 18's or 17's?
lexham
Very nice. White is by far the best colour for the mk5. Good choice. 18's or 17's?Probably the 17's. The 18's by BBS are diamond cut and very hard to refurb. The 17's give a slightly more compliant ride and don't jiggle quite so much on the motorway. Also, for a white car, the regular Monzas look great. The MKVI is out in a year or so, with the GTi to come at an (unspecified) later date.Reason being is that the MKV is quite a costly car to build with a great rear suspension set, so to accelerate the build time and cut costs, VW may be introducing some design changes.I am getting a 2008 Model year car, which is great. Just 11 weeks or so to wait now.Hope that VW don't mess up the order and it arrives exactly as specified.

I like the fact that there are not many white ones around at the moment - but looks like they are getting more popular. Were those pictures taken at the side of Aberdeen harbor, or is that Stonehaven?
