I have put my name down for 2 units as I sure Gamestation are going to let me down going by the non contact.

Reading the official Playstation magazine most big companies cannot guarantee the units for launch date, even though I see some sellers on ebay selling their pre-ordered units, which have been ordered from Argos and state in their confirmation letter, that the sellers are guaranted a unit on the day.

Also I am looking at recommendations for a new HD TV.

My brother has one ordered from gamestation. He's 6th on the list, so he's pretty hopeful of getting one on launch day.

We've just got a Samsung LE40F71BX 40" HD LCD Telly too. It's 1080p, so can accept the full output of the playstation 3.

Apparently HD telly's make non-HD signals look worse than they would on a non-HD telly, which does seem to be happening. DVD's look amazing on it though. Have to see wait and see what Blu-rays look like.

I think you're right. The pixelation on out 28" CRT through the freeview box is bad enough on some channels, and not just the crap ones. Corrie or Eastenders isn't going to be any better regardless of screen type or size. If it looks worse, that just adds to the misery, Pat Butcher in HD? Leave me out.

  • 2 weeks later...

My brother's getting his at midnight.

He's getting Motorstorm and Resistance Fall of Man too. And The Elder Scrolls IV, Oblivion has been pre-ordered.

He's jumping about like a tosser excited. And now just shouted 'bin attack' and tried to hit me with a bin, then punched me in the back of the head after he'd read that I'd called him a tosser.

Please reconsider the PS3 , it's a ill thoughtout piece of equipment.

Sony will be forced to drop the price signifcantly sooner rather than later if sales trends continue as they currently are.

And with no essential titles on day 1, I can't see a sensible reason to join the queue.

As for which tv to buy, I urge you to do your homework first as there are all sorts of issues which specific models etc, read up on http://www.avforums.com/ .

I think the ps3 is an awesome piece of kit, although i will probably get one next year. Ive only had my 360 for two months and im quite amazed at what it can do, especially now that ive got it linked to my pc. Its everything i need in my bedroom really and i couldn't justify buying a ps3, especially with those poor launch titles aswell.

The thing with the ps3 is that it was a flop in both Japan and the US, so im interested to see what happens to it over here. The 360 has quite a huge following here now, although Sony/the shops seem to have promoted the ps3 quite a bit over here in recent weeks.

The Samsung TV mentioned, I've just ordered one, bloody ace I promise you wont beat it...

It's got a specific Gaming Mode which makes HD Gaming purely amazing.

As for PS3, maybe in a few months when they realise no one is buying them and they drop them to 360 price.

My 360 will keep me going for now, especially with such great titles such as Gears Of War, White Gold, GTA4 will be coming out on it too, same release date as PS3, so tbh I can't see what Sony has that Microsoft doesnt??

Xbox Live is amazing too.

Thats the thing that swung me to the 360 aswell, GTA4. Plus like you say Gears of War is unbelievable and it is a microsoft game. I also agree on the Xbox Live comment too, there is about 10 of my mates who also have XLive, so we have some fun on it.

A good Blu-Ray player alone will cost you £800, which is one of the reasons Sony delayed the European launch date as they were getting more money selling the DVD players.

The graphics on Virtual Fighter 5 are another level and you get a free copy of Casino Royale in Blu Ray format + a free GT HD download.

Never liked the Xbox 360 as the graphics remind me of PC graphics and going by the recent Watchdog episode on faulty units, I would not bother.
