I don't think I realised how much work was involved in being a Dad, and I wasn't expecting my morgage payments to go up so much.

I'd be finished a couple of years ago if it wasn't for Northen Rocks Bankers LOL

I also prefer the new wheels, I'm not gonna have to take them off everytime I want to drive the car hard

Just writeing a list of everything that needs doing, so I can try and try to work out what needs doing for each part, and if anyone thinks I have missed anything, I would be happy to be told

N/S engine bay:

  • Weld chassis.
  • Rust issue Sorting.
  • Fill, sand and paint chassis leg.
  • Route Throttle Cable.
  • Sort out the pedel box (Not looking forward to this.)
  • Make and mount a bracket for the catch tank.

O/S engine bay:

  • Clean Polish chassis leg.

Drive train:

  • Remove Coilovers, clean, paint and wax.
  • Clean up and paint wheel hubs.
  • Grind down welds.
  • Stone chip inside the wheel arches.
  • Try to refit wheel arch lineings - Changed my mind
  • Replace the brake lines to work with Golf Calipers (why am I so tight? )
  • Fit ARB
  • Fit Coilovers, wheel hubs and brakes.

Engine:

  • Get bolt holes counter sunk and sort something for the vacume feed on the plate.
  • Remove inlet manifold and replace with the plate and bodies.
  • Fit some kind of mount to the engine for the throttle cable.
  • Deside on an ECU so I know what other work is needed to be done before fitting the engine.
  • Fit Engine

Going to do in that order, as I think once I get started doing stuff, the wiring loom wont seem so scary.

Any advice/tips on any of these jobs would be much appreciated.

A Job gets completed, and I end up with more work than I started with!

  • Refit the dash!

New List!

  • Fit Lupo GTI Calipers (changed my mind with the Golf items)
  • Fit GTI Rear Beam and handbrake cables
  • Paint Doors and interior
  • Paint Body
  • Painted Top GTI engine and fit
  • Front end and Radiator refitted
  • Removed Power Steering pipes and pump
  • Throttle linkage correctly installed!
  • Audio cables installed correctly
  • Throttle cable installed (somehow! I should have got the underslung kit)
  • Drop off for Motec ECU installed, wired and mapped! Yup, descided against the megasquirt.

Forgotten what else is needed...

It's a chap in the North East that Mitch knows.

I'm not sure how much he charges, I've been given a figure but I don't know if that's a special price or not, I'll try to find out.

It's pretty good value though, and is a complete tow in, drive out service.

He's already done Mitch's mates Polo, obviously Mitch and I are leaving it later than expected LOL

Found a unit for let, too expencive though, dude wants £50 per week for it!

But anyway, latest is the car should be painted within a couple of weeks (yes, I know how many times Ive said that) and then I'm bring her home to finish it.

Dont know where any of the parts of bolts are though.

£50 a week, what a joker! Remember the lock-up I used to keep my Lupo in, brick walls, steel secure door and good access, it was £3.20 a week. Too small to do major work in but big enough to keep the car in and work on the engine or one side at a time.
