Natst8
So here is my car, hopefully will remain to be my first and only car for a while as well, it's a '99 lupo 1.4 E in flash red, no air con for me ☹, but still great compared to friend's first cars despite being much older. Only played £550 for it and it has 64,000 miles and I'm yet to find any rust.
Blue Loop
Welcome! That looks nice and standard. Don't worry too much about aircon, been there done that (in Spain) and I'm still alive
oVerboost
Looks like a great example, and a brilliant first car as well. Good choice! Low mileage and no rust will also ensure future re-sale value if you do decide to change/upgrade in a year or two but much nicer than my first car which was a Nova 1.2 saloon lol. Natst8
Thanks The heat at the moment though is a killer, tend to leave my Windows down most of the time Don't know how long it will remain standard, I've already done a few things? Natst8
Just minor changes here, debadged the rear and removed the bump strips, makes it look a tad smoother (and a lot easier to clean?) Also fixed up my steel wheels and did my caps in matte black
Natst8
I would like to point out that I've had the car since March but I'm only just getting round to updating on here
Rich
I would like to point out the first thing I did with my first red Lupo was remove the bump strips.

Yeah, personally I found the bump strips to look a bit tacky, that and they were starting to fall off the passenger side
Natst8
This is from before bump strip removal, I forgot to post this Another update, this was when I did some maintainence to the car, I didn't know the history so I may as well, I did an oil change, replaced the oil filter, checked and cleaned all the brakes, and fitted a K&N high flow air filter for "maintainence purposes" , photos courtesy of my dad when he wasn't getting in the way?? Natst8
Not posted for a while, quite a bit has happened since then, I've fixed the driver's side lock as the barrel internals were ruined as shown, I've fixes the damage I had on the rear bumper and resprayed it. I bought a set of the sport alloys, they were originally from a polo, and I got a black sunstrip as i could get it to sit just a bit lower than my visors. I'm quite short so they didn't block enough light. (1st part otherwise it won't submit, I have more)
Natst8
Pt2 I got myslef an aluminium gear knob as i prefer the feel to the standard one I also decided that my car will have a theme of red and black, generally when I get an idea I stick to it, so I sprayed my alloys black. I then used high temp paint and painted my cover and air box red and in person it is surprisingly close to the car colour.
Natst8
Pt3 The wheels are on the car now, looks a lot better than the original wheels. I also may have fitted a JVC stereo and 12 disc auto changer, with some 6x9s on a homemade parcel shelf, the 6x9s are connected to quick release plugs so I can take out the whole shelf easily if I have to carry anything particularly large in the boot Also a picture from before I painted my alloys (and before I'd passed), it gets rather low with a bit of weight in the back
Natst8
And my car currently with the front bumper off ready to be fixed up and sprayed All caught up.

cj1
Loving this. You've just motivated me to remove the bump strips off my red lupo! PS, Silverline axle stands are £17 on Amazon for two. Easier than bricks Where did you get the gear knob?

I would recommend, it doesn't take too long and gives it a clean look I have axle stands somewhere...? https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01F6PXBRM/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 It is a mugen gear knob though, but to solve that problem I face the logo away from me? Natst8
Finally got the front bumper sprayed, and despite the heavens opening I also got it fitted
Natst8
Moved my plate to lower down, got my tow strap, may put it on the rear hook rather than the front. Also sprayed my rear badge and hoping to spray my rear bumper as well.
Natst8
Another update, rear bumper sprayed, next will probably do a rear wiper delete and clean up the boot lid a bit Looking at it I think I want to remove the vw emblem as well and smooth it
Natst8
Current state of the car, decided that I would debadged, not quite smooth yet but nearly there Also some pics to go up soon I took while out to Weston.
Natst8
Here are some pics from weston, not edited yet but still decent Most of these are showing the clean aspect of the car, I have others showing all the imperfections as that's the theme I'm doing for my photography course. Natst8
So I'm sticking with my red and black theme at the moment, but it may change to red and gold if I get influenced more, also slowly influencing my girlfriend into cars more So my caliper on the drivers side and both drums are now Red, just need to do the passenger side Sorry for the potato quality but it got dark
