ROBIN POUNDER
Can anyone give a ballpark figure for getting cam belts replaced on a 2004 Lupo ? Independent garage or VW dealership, either will do.

lupogtiboy
The main dealer I work at charges £484 for parts and labour for a cambelt and waterpump. Its around 3-4 hours labour if I recall correctly. Your dealership may have different labour rates to mine, generally you get charged more around here the closer you are to London. Mobieus_uk
according to autodata its just over 1.6hours work so would imagine a garage should be charging 2hours + parts, probably best phone around to be fair thats belt only, if you have the waterpump and the tension then the time will creep up and also the price Edited March 13, 2017 by Mobieus_uk
weslangdon
my local independent charged me £100 to fit a new cam belt kit to my Arosa TDI, I supplied the kit which was circa £120 from ECP

Don't forget that auto boxes need servicing every couple of years too if you want them to last. Fluid and filter change... And diff topup. And magnet clean. Doesn't take long or cost the earth, but will make a huge difference to your gearshifts.
ROBIN POUNDER
That's good advice guys, thank you very much. Gives me a good idea of what to negotiate with if it hasn't been done......
Rich
I'd say £250 if parts are included Inc water pump.
Chino_UK
Just paid £275 for parts and labor at a local (very good) independant VAG specialist, on a 1.4 16v.
