RedVillan
Bought a totally standard Red GTi 3 weeks ago and on Thursday while I was waiting at traffic lights a stupid 'lady' did not stop and hit the car behind me that smashed into me then i smashed into the car in front who then knocked over a poor person crossing the road. (lucky the person crossing the road was OK) now I am being told by my insurance company it looks like the GTI might be written off!!!! and the Glass guide for a GTI 2001 model in immaculate pre accident condition is valued between 1200 and 1600. not very happy at all
mpiloop
You can always buy it back off them cheap if they write it off but still I would love to come across a gti for that little! Sounds like they're trying to really **** you over not good brother! I had some issues insuring my lupo and spoke to quite a few people including citizens advice! Try them I guess Hope everyone is all okay though!
mickster
Wow, can't offer any help I'm afraid but that's really crap, my condolences.
Skezza
Reject the offer. Crazy low price.
Pete
Depends on how badly damaged the car is really surely.
RedVillan
Not that bad both bumpers are cracked still drivable
Skezza
Depends on how badly damaged the car is really surely. does it? The offer should reflect the price of the pre damaged vehicle.
Pete
I thought that corresponded to the category. Cat d write off, cat c write off etc. The more Itl cost to put right the less they offer you, no?
iammike
I'd be very firm with them and all them to show you equivalent cars for £1200. Your insurance is 'market value', not Glass guide. Is it you insurance out the other party's you're dealing with? Before you accept any offer I'd hold out for a decent price.
Silver!
If that's all it is; just buy new bumpers and spray.Don't let them Cat' it for minor damage.
jonny s
as above i would personally buy new bumpers.but if it has to go through insurance due to 2 other cars involved id refuse the offer or ask them to buy you one same condition..... mk2
Be cheeky. Do what I once did. Get the car fixed for the best deal you can find and then send them the bill... You need 3 quotes from different garages for legal evidence. You'll be back on the road without having any hassle in no time. They can't argue with you if it only comes to max 1/3 the 'value' of the car.
