    A/C Fails

R134 pressure too high. Over pressure switch turns off the compresser I'm guessing...?

    Coasting

Go the flat long way, or the short hilly way. Which is more economical. Discuss. Sounds like someone is doing the automotive engineering uni course.
  3. Crack? I hate problems like that...
  4. Owl noises are the heater blower fan motor bearings running dry... on one of my V12 hot rods I made the side pipes flame. But that took some real engineering. It was actually quite difficult to do. CO2 works great as a flame extinguisher.
  5. AHU? And why? Upgrade or proper problems going on? Do tell...
  6. Yeah, but got to be in very good condition inside. Basically a decent old car...
  7. Cool. There are viruses going round...
  8. Bargain! Usual price for an SDI is about £1.2k with that sort of milage. Don't need another to add to my two this minute. Any more pics?
  9. My fav colour for a loop, but way way too far for me. Always wanted a F green loop. Only an hour's drive from the Durham/NE England club lupo crew... Go on... just get an MOT on it. Just the essentials then sell it as a first car.
  10. It's self adjusting. Yeah, fit and forget. So fit the wedge so the spring is stretched, trying to pull it back down again. When the brake operates with the handbrake and then the footbrake, it slides down to take up the slack. Simple and neat system whoever came up with it. To remove, if you can't get the drum off, line up one of the wheel bolt holes with the adjuster wedge and slide it up with a screwdriver. A torch is handy there.
  11. So whats the deal there? What's the main differences between these engines? As far as I knew, there are a few design changes, but by and large the same power plant...? It's the main reason I went down the route of SDI instead of 3 pot TDi. Curious.... hmmm.
  12. A while back I discovered an alternative engine code for the SDI... Standard is AKU. There is another code in my silver SDI. From new. 1.7 diesel. Looks and runs exactly the same as my other SDI. When I find it again I'll post it.
  13. I think this is true. There is a timer in the convenience centre (only on S spec cars with leccy windows), which keeps the system active after unlocking. I think it's a fault though because I've experienced the exact same symptoms on a mk4 golf (S spec again). There is a relay that is activated which draws the majority of the current. Haven't investigated it any further, but when the door lock led is flashing, the current drops. The fault manifests itself as extending the timer to stay on longer and longer as the car ages. No idea why... I have a hunch it's linked to the door lock switches.

    engine swop

    Don't ever question @Rich...
  15. Yeah, 450 is about right. If you get the mot, you could sell for maybe 600+... tdis are in demand.
  16. Welcome to club lupo! we're all here to help you keep another lupo on the road... together there are years of Lupo fixing experience on here. I guarantee you that someone has had the exact fault(s) you've had and already know exactly what to do.... Tell us what happened just before it died, or how it died? Coughed? Loss of power? Completely cut out? Slowly juddered to a halt? That kind of thing. what model? Any pics?
  17. Just was delivered the wrong tyre and I have no use for it. Supplier told me to keep or bin it. No idea what it'll fit, but if any use to you PM me. You'll need to buy another from somewhere to get a matching axle pair. My guess worth about £40? You'll have to collect as I couldn't be bothered to post, label, wrap or pack it. Avon are a decent tyre. Edit: apparently they fit the new beetle and vauxhall agila
  18. What's the bellhousing flange bolt pattern like? Would it fit other engines...?
  19. It's not a trademark infringment if there's no mention on the product itself that it is a VW! Use the analogy that a child at school made a painting of a car that looks like a VW Beetle (for example)... There's no mention of VW (The trade mark is VW). That pic is now reproduced in a newspaper all over the world in millions. The image (or in this case, item) is a facsimile or caricature of an item and is an interpretation of the original design. It is clearly not a copy, doesn't claim to be an original item or claim to be made by the manufacturer. What a load of BS. If anything, it's copyright infringment as it looks like 'a thing'. Serve them an injunction and tell them to FO. Carry on selling YOUR work of art on here. Hey, just had a thought... any publicity is good publicity. You could use this VW letter to help you sell more and raise the public awareness of your business. If the media ran a story about how a small arty one-man business was threatened with legal action because of the pure appreciation and admiration of a model of car, with worldwide following, people would be outraged. It'd make a great headline story..... raise your business's awareness for sure.
  20. Follow the fat alternator output cable and see where it ends up. It usually goes straight to the + battery terminal, via a fuse.

    My new car

Most of the SORN cars on how many are left have been broken up... DVLA not notified. My guess is maybe 20% are still real cars.
  22. Don't think it's the fuse... if you have a voltmeter, measure the battery voltage with the engine runnign. Should be about 14.4VDC. stupid question, but the alternator is spinning? (the pulley has an overun clutch in it)
  23. If same as Lupo, it's on top of the battery... what are the symptoms? oh, and welcome to club lupo!
  24. Hang on... you telling us that VW in MK have formally told you to stop making them!? Now there's a case I'd enjoy fighting in court...
