  1. I was so tempted to do this the other day, as I said to Dale earlier it appears a real bargain!
  2. Ahhh was waiting for an update on this since I found out where the interior went!
  3. I think the black ones photograph worst (you need the right angle) but in the flesh I love mine so much. Personally, as someone that bought due to mileage and price, I'd advise going for the car you find with the best bodywork. Mine is ropy and it's all very expensive if I ever want to sort it, whereas anything mechanical that goes (within reason), between myself and my Dad we can pretty much fix for the price of parts...
  4. Think I saw this one advertised, was it silver? Welcome anyway!
  5. In terms of resale value and commonality, silver is probably the least desirable colour, but personally I don't think there is a bad (standard) colour for the GTI!
  6. Definitely needs a bit of love but the vent is a cheap fix and new mats/a clean will make the inside look much nicer! How much did you pay?
  7. Sounds like a beautiful combination, what's the mileage?
  8. Was it you that sold your other white one for this one cos it was much lower mileage? If so I feel sorry for you man! On the plus side they look so freaking nice in white, I'm glad you are getting it fixed as I'm sure you'd regret selling it.
  9. Damn isn't that quite low mileage for a GTI gearbox to go?!
  10. Wow I usually don't like it in yellow but damn that is awesome!
  11. £4500 sounds like a great price, granted you've put a hell of a lot of time and effort into it but this is such a pleasing thread, real labour of love and a tribute to the Lupo GTI imho! Mine doesn't have Lupo on the back either which I don't mind but I think I'd miss it not saying GTI, to paraphrase Skinner from The Simpsons "that's how you know it's a GTI!"
  12. If you get one just please don't buy a nice one write it off! And if you are in the south and want an unmodded one that needs some weekends spent on it let me know Seriously though just to add my 2 pence, I'm 25, passed late at 23 and bought the GTI as my first car. I've had quite a few near misses and am pretty sensible, it's a car that eggs you on to drive "just a little bit faster"! My brother is 17, passed with the same instructor as me in the same 1.6l fiesta and whilst he's fine in his 1l 107 I wouldn't trust him in my car, especially when he's giving a lift to his mate and two girls
  13. I almost bought this, hope you enjoy it bud, looked amazing from the photos!
  14. I'd love the GTI but the loose bits in the box concern me, can you see anything else that might be missing such as the wing mirrors or any other damage?
  15. If for some reason none of the others take these then I will! But given Matt is in the queue before me I highly doubt that will be the case

Great collection I still really want a MK1 cabriolet, came very close to buying one last summer, and I'll probably have to stop myself again this summer!
  17. Wow those petrol prices so glad those days are over for now!
  18. Depends what you want but from experience the standard headunit and OEM speakers produce a bassier sound than what is achieved from replacing either the headunit, front speakers, or both. I ended up getting a small sub to compensate after my OEM headunit and one speaker blew I've got a Sony MEX-N4000BT and Focal 165 AC speakers in the front, OEM rears and a Blaupunkt GTb 8a in the boot. The Focals are a bit trebly, especially since I've kept the OEM tweeters so I adjust the EQ on the Sony as it hss loads of settings!
  19. Cool, I'm in Brighton but have met up with Matt once, he's the only person with a GTI close by I've actually spoken too but I know of two others in Brighton!
  20. Nice! Are you from down here too?
  21. Thanks for the info, I'll see if my local dealer can get me some!
  22. I reckon given the amount of UK GTIs that end up modded, written off or just kept in fairly poor condition, the Japenese imports will probably end up more valuable since they are imported due to condition and more likely to be bought by those who will take care of them. The quantity that are being imported is probably far too small to make any real impact on price, and personally I'm really happy that the availability of them is increasing both because I love the car and it also increases the potential supply of parts should I ever need them in the future.
