    lost key

The fax machine buzzes and off comes the piece of paper. "Customer X has lost their one and only key to vehicle 6XZZZ ..... , request priority key made". They quickly scurries off to the front of the parts production line and say "HALT! This key must be made now!!" , the sound of sirens alerts all of the employees as the production lines grind to a halt. They telephone the archive department who then fax back a schematic for the key in question, it's rushed through and stuck in a jiffy bag and immediately passed to a man waiting outside on a motorbike, who speeds to the airport to get it onto the next plane out of wolfsburg.. Unfortunately if you only have one key (As do I for one of my lupo's) it's generally accepted that you're running at risk, particularly with a part that's been in use for a good amount of years. Preventative maintenance would always suggest ensuring you have a spare. I'm with @lupogtiboy , it's not the dealers fault that your key broke and they're constrained to what the factory can do. There's millions of parts being produced, it's never going to be a few days. You'll never satisfy everyone. If they do sometimes arrive in less than 5 working days then I'd say that's not too bad, I mean you wait longer than that for a GTI ball joint! PS - Don't take it personally. I hope someone stumbles across this in a similar situation. and FWIW my only key is bent, so maybe I should order a spare too!

I suppose they should stock one of every key and immo chip then they could be sent instantly...
  3. What a pleb. Yes main difference is ARB.

    lost key

So the purpose of this thread? There isn't much alternative to waiting for a key if you don't want to change locks.

    lost key

Smash window. Remove handbrake, tow car to safe location. get new key. Buy window from me for £5... Winner winner.
  6. I'm not affiliated with the seller but it's nice.. That's exactly what someone affiliated with the seller would say....
  7. The only unusual thing on vagcom is that the live screen didn't register any RPM when it was turning over, so I've ordered a cam sensor to try tha What about the crank sensor too?
  8. A lot of detail gone into this.. Good luck with the sale! I think I've just found somewhere I won't be visiting for an MOT though...
  9. Resistor is the only thing that matters for the speed.
  10. Belt is a 2 minute job. Quicker than writing the post...
  11. Cheers Rich. Knew it would be something simple. Dealer couldn't find anything on their diagrams though..... Got some grommets at home that may work!
  12. It's a genuine one, all genuine bits... just looked again and had a face palm moment. Can't help but feel I'm missing a part on the wings? Is there supposed to be something in them holes? Just looking on oemepc at the diagrams and can't spot anything, but could be im looking in the wrong place. Adhesive is my last resort really, would rather it remain at least kind of easily removable
  13. It's one of the future editions
  14. Ok, so your last photo, that's an oil breather, it's expected this will be fairly oily. Unless it's literally dripping out then you have nothing to worry about, and if it was you'd know about it before sticking yer finger in there. Is the airbox a tight fit around the hole that sits on top of the throttle body? And as suspected, it's a throttle body, not a carb. The 1.0 lupo is fuel injected. As for the spark plugs, it is odd that 2&4 are the same. Have you had 1/3 out to look if they have anything on them?
  15. No "link" between 2&4. Which parts are oily, the top part that the ignition lead plugs into, or the bottom that threads inside the engine? How much oil are we talking about? What do you mean by "carb" - if this is a 1.0 Lupo as per your profile then I think this is one of those situations where pictures would help massively.

    Arosa mk 2

Bonnet is one of those items that's very easy to self-wrap to be fair, probably £30 or so in Vinyl with some left over!
  17. And the locks, find a breakers, get them from there. Why do you only need the 3 and not the key barrel for the ignition?
  18. No, as above, so long as the airbag light isn't on you have nothing to worry about. 3 options essentially: Strip cluster down and desolder LED light Strip cluster down and tape over LED light Use a resistor to trick the light into thinking all is OK. As for the adhesive residue, I used Petrol. Worked a treat.
  19. Right, has anyone ever successfully removed, and refitted the indicator panel part of the front bumper? Of course they have.... But how? The 2 clips either end that seem to just push into the wing, how are these supposed to go on? For the life of me I can't get them to stick in, they just pop straight back out.
  20. To be fair it's always worth ringing them, especially if you can't find them anywhere else. Saves you and everyone else time... Could have had them by now! On more than one occasion lately they've been a lot cheaper than eBay or someone breaking a car.
  21. Looking at the mods hardly any have been online lately.
  22. Looking forward to it, especially the leaderboards. How will the scoring work? I hope it's different to the current "get a friend to like all my posts" !
  23. What Rich said. Plus if you rely on the information from a forum you'll be failing when you begin too. The car is there, measure it!
  24. Ah okay, nice. Just had a look at some youtube videos, it's nice around there. That must be some strong snow foam to remove them stickers
