Really like where your going with this. I must admit its not the most flattering car to look at from some angles but with a few mods and nice touches it certainly does look the part

With the mini you have an issue, the boldness of the red emphasises the black trim , now if you wnet to dark it would just all blend in wheels/tyres/trim into a dark blob.

If you got to light with the dark shade then it will contrast against the black trim, so personally if go polished outer and body inners.

OK, my £500 3 piece splits have arrived....

Only taken a picture of the smaller dished ones, as the other larger dishes ones are split down already.

The dishes need to be scrapped for new ones and I need new bolts, but the faces and barrels are all in good nick and just need powdercoating.

I'll get the barrels done in a plain silver, but I'm leaning back towards the candy black colour at the moment, as I think the design would suit a darker colour??

Is it worth going for 3" rear lips and sitting 9.5j's on the rear, or should I stay sensible with 2.5" lips and 9j??

Is anyone epic at PhotoShop on here??

If so, could I be cheeky and ask someone to maybe try a few different colours? I have a high-res pic:

Colour combo's that have been suggested so far are:

chilli red / gold bolts

silver / gold bolts

anthracite / silver bolts

anything epic

Tonight I split down the remaining two wheels, what a PITA of a job that was - 70 bolts in total and some of them were siezed rock solid - got there in the end though and saved some time / money for when it comes to refurbing the rims.

Here is a pic of the two 'set ups' that I have presently..

As you can see I have two 7j barrels which are brand new (never used) and two 6.5j barrels which must be orginal and could do with some TLC in terms of a sand blast and powedercoat.

Dishes will be getting thrown out as soon as I have used them for test fitting and new bolts will be getting ordered as the old gold ones are well past their best....

Currently, this colour combo is winning me round but with silver polished bolts:

Spent some time today working out the ET's using the three different mounting options, this for the REAR WHEELS only at present. I used this guide: How To: Measure OFFSET on your Rims

Sandwich Mount:

6.5j rear barrel with 2.5" lip (9.44j due to increased width by face)

Width: 265mm width / 2 = 132.5mm centre line

Backspace: 165mm

ET32.5

6.5j rear barrel with 3" lip (10j due to increased width by face)

Width: 279mm width / 2 = 139.5mm centre line

Backspace: 165mm

ET25.5

Rear Mount:

6.5j rear barrel with 2.5" lip (9j)

Width: 253mm width / 2 = 126.5mm centre line

Backspace: 150mm

ET23.5

6.5j rear barrel with 3" lip (9.5j)

Width: 267mm width / 2 = 133.5mm centre line

Backspace: 150mm

ET16.5

Front Mount:

6.5j rear barrel with 2.5" lip (9j)

Width: 253mm width / 2 = 126.5mm centre line

Backspace: 174mm

ET47.5

6.5j rear barrel with 3" lip (9.5j)

Width: 267mm width / 2 = 133.5mm centre line

Backspace: mm

ET40.5

In terms of the mounting options, here are photo's to show you what I mean...

Also went to see a decent powdercoaters today, and think I have picked the colour for them (Silver 25/Lacquer) however, I would be using a Pear Explosion clear coat/lacquer instead. See here: Powder Coating Paint Supplier

If you are getting rid of the 1.5" dishes, I will happily take them off your hands! ;)

Oh and I am pretty sure OZ dishes will fit these wheels, I have some spare dishes and stuff if you wanted to test different options!

OZ dishes fit these yeh.

I want 3" dishes really, but the only option is to buy new 5.5" barrels and run 8.5j rears...

I think I'm going to have to put the either the 7j or 6.5j barrels up for sale and go for a set of 5.5's, and then run some 1.5" dishes upfront on either 6.5's or 7's....

I've PM'd you r.e the 1.5's. They are pretty beat up TBH.

What spares do you have??

  • 2 weeks later...

OK, got to Coastal Racing nice and early this morning to have the wheels changed back over to the JCW's for the winter...

I had planned to get the coils adjusted a touch lower too, but they were too busy to lower the car some more, which was a tad dissapointing but the place was choc a block with cars. I'll just get it done over the next few weeks when I'm back up in Newcastle...

Anyway heres the current 'winter look'. I'm going to take the roof basket and bars off over winter too, as it really doesnt go with the look that the JCW's give the car...
