Today is the 67th anniversary of the invasion of Normandy, the beginning of the end of the second world war.

Please spare a few moments to remember those who gave the ultimate sacrifice to give you what you take for granted

At the going down of the sun and in the morning,

We will remember them

"They went with songs to the battle, they were young,

Straight of limb, true of eye, steady and aglow.

They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted;

They fell with their faces to the foe."

Im happy in the knowledge that i can stand toe to toe with someone and trade punches without a care in the world , but having to run out of a boat with gun fire going off , motars, mines, barbed wire and everything else i know i would have probably cried and pooped myself more than once inside of my combats.

Hats off for all those who risked/gave their lives for these shores to stay british, truly epic on ever scale from them.

sorry to put a downer on things but when you see the extreme muslims burning the poppy i cant help but think this country has let them true heroes down.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:

Age shall not weary them, nor the years contemn.

At the going down of the sun and in the morning

We will remember them.

In the first 24 hours the 155000 troops that landed took control of 80 square miles of France.

4414 were killed in that first day.

Makes you think, doesnt it.

Reminds me of the medal of Honor starting quote "And when he gets to heaven, to Saint Peter he will tell One more soldier reporting, sir, Ive served my time in hell""

I thought Treblet had posted this month for a moment! then I realised it was years ago...

Every single one of those men deserved a medal in my opinion.
