Whiny 77 Posted October 7, 2010 Report Share Posted October 7, 2010 (edited) I've posted this because I'm after a remap for my Arosa sport, I've tried Awesome GTI and there having real problems with getting the Chips for the remap, I'm sick of waiting. So I've been looking at places & tuners who do remaps. The most prompted reponeces I've had was back from JBS, so I'll post up the emails they have sent me to the questions I was asking. JBS do Custom-Code remaps. The specs of my car, of which I gave them are: SEAT Arosa 1.4 sport (AUB), Schrick Cams, Ashley 4-1 manifold & full system with a De-cat, gasflowed head, lightened Flywheel, BMC induction, updated clutch, Good Afternoon Craig,Many thanks for your enquiry with us at JBS.For a vehicle with this form of spec you would ideally be looking into a Custom-Code Phase 2 software. From speaking to them, they said maybe the new year is the earliest they might be able to get hold of them.I got my cams off Ebay, a nice cheeky special.I think next week sometime l'll give JBS a call and book in with them for a Custom-Code phase-2 remap. Im just curious with this chip malarky.It's not physically possible to Flash the Marelli ECU fitted to the Lupo's. The chip is a neccessity. At the same time l'll enquire with JBS out Nitrous as well, I think there a stockets of "Wizards of Nos". I reckon a wet kit with a controller will be just right.. 99hjhm Posted October 8, 2010 Report Share Posted October 8, 2010 How are they going to do a live remap on a road when the chip has to be removed from the ECU(using a soldering iron, unless I'm wrong) and a new chip soldered in that is pre programmed.. Remember that these places are experts in all vehicles, where as Awesome only do VAG, and there isn't much Al doesn't know about Lupo's. As you said Awesome being the top guys to do remaps for VAGs sound great but it isn't much help when they can't even sort out a supplie problem, I'm pretty sure if they told me the make of the chip & the correct spec of it. I could find on the Internet & order it myself, the all Awesome would have to do is put a disclaimer stating that they don't guaranty the chip. What are they remapping beforehand?I'm starting to get confussed as well now, ok start from the begnning. I emailed JBS about a custom code phase 2 remap. They sent me back all those posts I've tagged @ the top of this post. They said they would dyno run it, not sure if that's before during & afterwards. They also said it'll be a full chip replacement, which'll take between 6-8hours to do. Plus if you go onto custom-code website & read about the different phases of there remaps. Then from my understanding they'd have to do a live remap to get the best out of the mods I've done. Please anyone feel free to email or call JBS to see if you can understand whether it's a dyno'd live remap or any other type of remap. I've been in an R32T they built, fantastic bit of kit!If it's some sort of piggyback chip, surely they can solder it in, test car, then remove and adjust the map on the chip if required until JBS and the customer are happy with it. The only thing that's annoying me is that somewhere like Awesome can't really have dozens of people asking all the time to get these types of remaps done, which require these chips. After seeing that, i would be happy to take any car of mine of recommend to others to go there. As for mapping my MK1 when it's on the road, Bill at Badger5 is probably where im going to go - another mate runs an A3 20v at 240bhp with one of his maps and again it is spot on. To be honest, ive never really seen the attraction of spending £380+ or whatever it is on mapping a lupo sport when the most youre going to get is 5-8bhp realistically unless you have the whole spec list of cams/exhaust/headwork etc? Build some mentally specced up turbo r32's and the quality of the installs look factory.
