bossjohnc
Well alledgedly there was a software upgrade available that removes the problem, but also removes a little bit of performance. lupogtiboy
have asked in the workshop several times about any updates for gtis, and always got "no" as an answer!
bossjohnc
It did sound a bit fishy (as if the dealer was having the guy on) - so I'm keeping an open mind on that one.

Crusoe
I never had this problem on my GTI, wonder if it was because i always used higher ron fuel instead of normal unleaded. Could be the air filter needs a clean or somethign allong those lines though if it's getting worse.
bossjohnc
I never use 95... and I haven't used anything except for Optimax, super plus or V-Max for a long time.I've just had a 40K service, in which I beleive the air filter is replaced (?).I think it's possibly just one of those things that everyone has, but some people might not notice (depending on how they drive). Snoopy
Guess that was the free version of VAG-COM? You should have made a note of the number, you can look 'em up for free here.
Kev_Ush
When I bought my gti it was fine but 6 months later it started to do that kangarooing thing. I took it to the dealer and the said they could do a software upgrade on the ecu. I got the car back and the problem was sorted but it was slower. The longer I drove the faster it got but the problem came back. I think its only a winter thing hopefully.
