FraH2o
After 22 years of mk3 golf, I decided to get myself a Lupo .... which is a car I've always liked Before I start with the Lupo, I share photos of my 2 golf mk3. My GTI 8v http://i.imgur.com/IcwcKFt.jpg And my actual daily 1.9 TDI The TDI is starting to get a little tired. I decided to stop it to restore it in the next few years. So i need a new daily car....and here my new toy
FraH2o
In Italy we have the possibility to pay the reduced car tax after 20 years of registration To obtain this reduction, you need to practice presenting the car in its original and best possible condition. In addition to having it washed, I restored the headlights and replaced the front indicators The latest photos in its original condition
tigcraft
I like your golf!! The lupo TDI is a favourite with me especially in a yellow or a green. Keep up the good work
mk2
Very nice! Good job polishing the headlights. With lots of sun they fade very quickly, especially now you have removed the UV resistant lacquer. You'll need to restore them (in the how-to section). I think your car will easily pass the 20 year inspection. It looks like a new car👍🏻
FraH2o
I started getting an extra pair of bumpers, another front bezel and another pair of headlights. I have been observing other people's custom Lupo for some time, I have always loved the grille without the front indicators and smoothed like this Before starting work on the front grille, I started working on repositioning the front indicators. For some time I had been thinking about the solution of the front indicators of the Mini R53 instead of the fog lights My friend gave me 2 used indicators from his Mini for testing....so i start I removed the original holders from Mini, the diameter of the bulb is identical to the diameter of the hole for the fog lights. The inclination is also correct. I now study how to fix it and then I will move the arrows here and also the position lights.
FraH2o
Last week are arrived rims in 7,5x15 et30 and coilover. I also started removing the side moldings. I read the forum guides how to remove theme and yes .... they are really lovely persons 😅, I think I'll do one a week
The Penguin
I remember seeing a Lupo on a visit to Tivoli back in 2016, it was the only one I saw in over a week you are doing all the right things to your car, my only reservations are the colour, its something we call cat sick yellow. Sorry, that was rude, but you could mitigate it by painting or wrapping the roof black

FraH2o
I started collecting a few extra pieces like a pair of headlights and front grill I try for the first time in plastic welding and smoothing the grill
FraH2o
After having welded the plastic caps I reinforced the back with some mesh. I then spread the 2k adhesive to fix everything
FraH2o
I completed the job trying to use a little filler. I also brought a pair of bumpers to the bodywork to which I closed the screw holes of the license plate, and also brought the internal piece of the front logo. FraH2o
I started work on the extra headlights. My idea is to mount a bixenon bulb and then paint the chrome interior parts in black and gunmetal. And some test to check clearence with lenses
FraH2o
I chemically removed the chrome using a hydrochloric acid bath for 12 hours. I'm letting it dry for another 24 hours, then I'll sand with 800 and water and start painting. In the meantime I have changed the antenna to a shorter one
mk2
Yeah, use clothes washing detergent on chromed plastic and rub VERY gently with a finger to remove any dirt, or it scratches then peels off. Then rinse with deionised water and it comes up like new No water marks...

FraH2o
After removing the chrome plating, I started to paint: 800 wet, primer for plastics, black and gun metal gray .... but I was not satisfied with this first chromatic combo I inverted the color and it's better. FraH2o
I brought home the parts from the body shop. The smoothed grill looks good.
FraH2o
I finished the job with the R53 mini turn signal modification, just a light smoke and fixxed.
FraH2o
I started assembling the headlights while waiting the regeneration of the lenses I continued the work of removing the side moldings using (thanks to "how to section" and some advices of a friend) a rubber pad to remove the black tape

FraH2o
I have finished wiring the headlights; another problem to solve is the change from H4 to H1 lamp. If I wouldn’t have problems with the high beam a relay is necessary. I Found one for xenon kit and rewired for leds. Assembled everything and the rear cap closes well. FraH2o
Yesterday i had little bit free time to swap the headlight and watch the new look I also changed the front logo grill, i think to paint black the vw chromed logo.
FraH2o
Some new to add on this thread In the last week i made some check to undetray and wheel arch. Fortunately no rusty or damage I clean all arch and door seals and i did a job i've been thinking about for some time: balck door seals to match the black primer under piece of bumbers
FraH2o
After this simply mod, I started working on the mechanics. As usual, I start with the idea of making a normal service and then "the hand runs out" Something to delete A deep need for cleaning after 300k km or 185k miles Starting in vacuum and washing
