  1. Have done a search but cant get the answer i need. I want to replace the coolant Temperature Sensor. i need to know where it is... and what is the correct one. A picture would be ideal! like i said i have tried searching but getting nowhere. 2004 1.7 SDI reg: OE04 LLN
  2. Hi guys, ive had the attached P0100 fault pop up on my car pointing to the MAF sensor but I can’t seem to locate it or find a replacement MAF anywhere that would fit. Am I being simple or does the Lupo gti not use a MAF sensor ? Bonus Fault - if anyone has any idea what the P1503 fault code could be for the alternator (I’ve already put a new alternator and belt on) you’d be helping big time lol
  3. Hi guys, New to this forum but owned a Lupo GTI for a while now. I’ve had an EML light on for a while now and I just can’t figure out what the cause is. The light first came on last year and since then the car has had an engine replacement with a reconditioned engine but still the fault code persists. Ive replace the camshaft timing sensor and already tried disconnecting the breather heater (aparantly this can cause this fault) my fuse 30 was blow but I replaced it disconnected the breather heater and the light came back but fuse 30 is fine. i could really do with some advice here as it’s driving me mad. Fault codes I currently have are 17748- camshaft position sensor/engine speed sensor; incorrect correlation 16394- camshaft timing control, bank 1; malfunction 17911- load signal from alternator terminal DF; implausible signal 16522- O2 sensor circuit high voltage (bank 1 sensor 2) 16514- O2 sensor circuit malfunction (bank1 sensor 1) 17759- camshaft position sensor, bank 1 implausible signal on startup
  4. 03 GTI, temp sensor has no faults stored, but the gauge on the dash shows the temperature in between 70 and 90, its always sat on 90 or just a smidge below. I changed the temp sensor at the weekend, still does the same. Car runs fine, heater gets hot, thermostat opens as both pipes get hot, fan cuts in when its supposed to, coolant all fine too and up to VW spec. Any ideas? TIA
  5. My lupo has sounded rough for a while. Last night the check engine light came on. Today I had someone hook up a diagnostics unit and he said it was the exhaust manifold, probably due to the cars age (54 plate.) So how bad is this, how easy is it to fix, do I need a new manifold and will this damage the engine. Also I posted previously that the car burrs as I slow down after I press the clutch. It seems to be doing it more, could these issues be related. The car seems to vibrate more as well. Tia.
  6. So basically i got new leads and plugs fitted on my lupo, and drove it home from the garage. the engine got really hot, and my oil light came on, I had to drive around with the heaters on full to cool the engine until i got home. Discovered that the thermostat had gone, got that fixed and hoped that the oil light would go off too. Nope. It came back on a week or so after. Ordered a oil sensor and filter, and had it serviced today, and still the light comes on. It isn't constant, and in the 3 months of owning it, it's come on 4 times. Anyone know anything ??? What could it be, the mechanic at the garage said it could be the oil pump. But I don't want to get things fitted if it going to be wasted money and not actually fix the car this is my first car, so I'm in love with it and I'd be heartbroken if I had to scrap it!
  7. According to volks world (ssp_223) the t piece allows the 1.4 to warm up to >30ºC whereas the 3L gets up to ~60ºC before returning fuel back to the tank Checking through etka based sites like partsbase.org and partscats.info it comes up with the P/N 038906081B for all of lupos diesel engines and also covers many others Vag models. Does anyone have any idea how there could be two with the same P/N Does anyone know of the alternative that may have been used in the lupo/ A 1.2 3L Thanks Keelan
  8. I was wondering if anyone may know what I would need to fit the gti alarm sensor/lights and siren etc. Any information upon this and alarm systems in general that may help will be overly appreciated. I'd love to do topic on it for others when it is done. I currently have standard central locking with aftermarket remote. I also have mk4 switch visors with the vanity lights and rear two sensor lights. Sadly didnt get the main centre light as I'm an idiot Hoping maybe a Gti member may know or even skezza as I know he's pretty sh-hot on elec and tech
  9. Been having a few issues with my Lupo 1.4s (2001) and recently had the crank sensor changed This has solved most of the issues, but now my speedo isn't working at all, it sits at 0 and my milage hasn't moved at all, i didn't drive far but it should have at least registered something. the fuel gauge seems to be acting up slightly, only really when i go round corners it drops a fair bit, i know this will be normal cause it's going away from the pump, but it never used to do it. rev counter & temp gauge still working fine. used a diagnostic to check it, can't remember the code but it said something like 'Speed sensor A' any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance
  10. My 1.4 TDi was running and starting fine, then next minute wouldn't start. Luckily I was at a garage, they pulled up faulty cam position sensor so replaced it.. now it comes up with P0341-00-00 implausible signal. They double checked it, checked the timing and the wiring, it does start now but not well and still comes up with the fault. The only things out of the ordinary that day was I started it up when it had been left in reverse gear and rather than just lurching there was a hell of a bang! but it started and ran fine after. Then I jet washed the car and engine, with it running and it was fine till later on that day. They suggest checking the ecu, any ideas? Cheers G
  11. thank goodness for archives had problem with engine not starting when hot and engine appeared to be flooding judging by the smell when it did start, then either stalled straightaway or revs raced on their own. so changed plugs air filter etc and was just at the point of going to garage thinking must be fuel injection problem and thats going to be expensive! when found thread re coolant temperature sensor so got one on ebay for 7.50 nothing to lose right? it did the trick amazing!!! and now running much smoother. so would like to say a big thankyou to all members who take the time to post info cheers lindylou
  12. Hi everyone I bought my girlfriend a 1999 SDi 1.7 lupo about a month ago for what i thought was a bargain price. I thought at the time 'I'll spend the next 2 weeks discovering why it was so cheap' now we know ! it's pretty though ok , having repaired both lock mechanisms with the usual ebay kits replaced the clutch and gear gate rod tightened up the loose pendulum support ... I'm left with : a flashing red exclamation brake warning lamp on the dash : comes on when I hit 10 mph accompanied by 3 bleeps fluid level looks ok, front pads plenty wear left (any sensors on the rear drums ?) only mystery is a plastic pipe leaving the top pf the brake fluid reservoir that's had a metal tube crimped off to block it ! what should that have instead ? I've looked on elsawin and can't see any diagram of the fluid reservoir) anybody want to help a newby who's stumped ? cheers !

(new switch/relay made no difference) should there be a permanent live to a terminal on the switch ? cos there isn't ...
