    My Golf VR6

Golf VR6 Highline's only came in Black or Mauve (very dark purple) and had either black or purple (mulberry I think they called it) leather, had a black one in 1997, was a fabulous car. You can get some VR6's which were ordered with Highline spec (leather, heated seats etc.) but if they are not black or purple then they're not an original Highline (should also have a small highline badge too).
  2. See this PistonHeads article (something to bear in mind): http://www.pistonheads.com/news/default.asp?storyId=20312 Not that I took extra insurance out when we did it, although it was years ago now, but must be a very sore feeling if you get it wrong and spank your car then have to pay a few thousands euros for armco fixing before being allowed to leave !!!
  3. Someone just sent me this: RIPaedo !
  4. Musically a legend without a doubt... As a person, hmmmm best to not go there really, however the Wacko Jacko in his later years will be long forgotten but his music won't be.
  5. Only have 2 watches (both genuine). My everyday one, a trusty original 1990 Tag Formula 1: And my special occasion one, 2000 Rolex AirKing:
  6. Rough but should give you an idea....
  7. Its VW Main Dealers hence the over the top price, but even by their standards its expensive.
  8. Was about 7:30pm ish, car defo crashed with a hefty thump over one of the big ridges on that road (I know what it sounds and feels like as my Mk1 GTi Cab used to do the same on that exact road). The Carrera 4s appeared to be chasing after you, both doing a fair lick.
  9. Sounds very much like top mounts to me, especially if yours was the Silver GTi running low on black wheels I saw going at some considerable speed along the side of Roundhay Park towards Street Lane last night (closely followed by a fast charging 911 Carrera 4S) as just after you wizzed by us (we were walking back from exercising the hound) it sounded very much like your car thumped over one of the many raised bumps along there and gave its top mounts a proper clatter? If it wasn't you then someone else is running a very similar looking GTi with the same issue ;-)
  10. A full car wrap in that'd be awesome..... "BY THE POWER OF GREYSKULL..."
  11. I would have thought you could but having said that they were cheaper to buy initially and personally I know which I'd rather drive (no offence to any Fox owners of course). Think there is definitely a good deal of room for discount in that dealers margin too.
  12. The TDi Sport Polo's are a good little motor, an old colleague of mine had a 2004 100BHP Tdi Sport and I did around 10K miles in it, solid little car and a nice drive with it being a Sport, personally quite like the Green, its different to regulation silver or black.
  13. How about full on W12 Golf Style? (didn't have much time to get it perfect though, too much work to do).
  14. Definite winner for comedy value.... Here's an Orange one I knocked up over lunch.
  15. Seconded, got 2 @ home and loads in the office, never had any issues (so far touch wood).
  16. Very different cars really, if it was a particularly nice Cabriolet then maybe, but it would cost you more to upkeep (I should know, my 1988 GTi cab has been with me for over 10years now). The heavy steering feels very heavy after driving any modern car with PAS, but a properly sorted GTi Cab, on a sunny day on a nice road is a delight. Having said that mines not a daily driver anymore so I'm kinda spoilt.
  17. Neither are Lupo's but both VAG so thought I'd add my tu'peneth, at last check our 1988 Mk1 Golf GTi Cab did 32mpg on a full tank, and our family smoker 2009 A3 TDIe Sport returned us 62mpg !!!
  18. Few more just to muddy the waters.... all my ideas have been deliberately designed as only 1 col screen print on each Tee for most cost effective solution. By nickgun at 2009-03-17 By nickgun at 2009-03-17 By nickgun at 2009-03-17
  19. Few ideas for you to consider or not, which I was messing with while scoffin' my sarnie for lunch. In case you hadn't guessed colourways are based on standard Lupo GTi colours (Blue, Silver, Red, Grey, Black) First one based on Lupo GTi silhouette.... More stylised Lupo silhouette graphic.... Cal / surf look sun or moon graphic...
  20. Thanks Sam, missed one of the possibles last night - awaiting reg no of the other so will do just as you suggest. Anybody else any pearls of wisdom?
  21. Afternoon all, just about to embark on a purchase of a Lupo GTi to add to our already VW/Audi filled garage (currently occupied by a 21yr old Mk1 Golf GTi Cab and a brand new A3 1.9TDIe Sport) and just wanted to ask all current owners on any potential issues to look for? Aside from slipping clutches, ragged front tyre shoulders and abused brakes any other things I should be on the look out for? Presumably damage to wings, bonnet and doors owing to them being aluminium are going to expensive to replace / repair, and kerbed alloys are gonna be common I guess but any other issues ? Many thanks in advance for any advice - and just so you know I'm chasing down a silver or anthracite GTi with Leather, so I know I'm on a hunt for a rare car but have a couple of possibles already. Nic
