  1. the cars been a bit smokey on boost... so i just picked up a new snail! Garret T15, Quite a smallish turbo off a TDI, but apparently it should take more or a hounding. the car it came off went very well also got a 'custom' Inlet with it, and the correct down pipe too! also in the week i changed my coolant and fitted my 8V rad, fits and works Spot on just got to book a day or two off work, Order a 180 degree bend and a few little bits of inter cooler/Inlet piping to make it all work and then il plop it on. il try and clean it all up before fitting too...
  2. i will also try and make it next year. i got a feeling its a little more for me but not by much. should have gone this year, probably would have made some useful auto jumble scores.
  3. you just join the too lines that come off the steering rack together. a non pas rack would be better. and much easier to change
  4. take the power steering and throw it away
  5. order online with discount codes much cheaper and better brand parts
  6. i did not notice the indicator panel until it was mentioned. now i cannot unsee it. im sure some time with some nicely matched rattle cans, some fine grade sandpaper and the rest would sort it out.
  7. there's a secret button that allows more fuel into the tank. i fitted about 40L in my SDI, right up to the cap. then went for a long drive. filling it to the cap and parking it in the sun is just a waste of money.
  8. pfft garages are overrated. all about driveways
  9. you should do that yourself. i bet the parts come to £50 http://www.amazon.co.uk/VW-Golf-Jetta-1984-registration/dp/1859602827/ref=pd_sim_b_4
  10. well pretty much, it hadn't come apart but with the amount of play id say one of the races inside had collapsed or something. i put better hubs on and haven't looked back. also i found a split in my vac hose, so might not even need to fit the servo. the rubber but right on the vacuum pump
  11. oo... Yes! some nice OE pads when i put my new calipers on. fitted fresher hubs and drive-shafts the other night, and the car is much quieter! the old CV joints were like a set of shake weights wheel bearings in the old hubs were... BAD very very BAD
  12. problem with radiator fan. check nothings fouling the fan, check the fan is not seized.. also look for wiring problems, like wires shorting out or somthing
  13. i used to get 79+mpg in my Lupo when i had it, standard engine lowered a bit on 13" wheels with standard tyres. if i ever own one again, il remove the spare wheel and a few other bits. and the seats when im not using them. also i would run the 13" wheels with 155/70 tyres much thinner, much cheaper. less RR which means better fuel consumption. probably windy windows for less weight etc.
  14. Proud of them shafts. split and rebuilt all the CV's myself. melty melty May even fit this. holds boost. just depends. i do like my top mount, and may even be getting the missing battery cover!
  15. 2 Ronals all ready to rock. 2 others need tyres New Rad, new expansion tank, shafts, hubs and brakes All round etc ready to go on, new servo etc. i do like a hoard. works busy so i don't get chance to fit all this. i will do the radiator soon. hopefully everything else will follow. even fitted MK3 stalks.
  16. they are pretty disposable winter wheels, and they are everywhere as they still sell them new. banded im not sure 9 inch would be my thing. i think 7.5 / 7 would be nice and subtle arent they like 6.5j in stock VW form? iirc
  17. there was a video if it. i cant find it on youtube mind
  18. there is a G40 lupo on here. runs and drives. quite cool actually. another 1.3 engine is a bit pointles..
  19. do the heaters work? best check now. also il PM you a link tommorow or the day after to loads of little mods and How too's that helped me with a few bits. all US stuff but still good.
  20. do you look back after parking and walking off? i always do.
