  1. A pair of after market tail lights to fit VW Lupo. £25 the pair - also on Gumtree. Bristol based.
  2. Yes, sorry, I'm looking for £25 for the lights and £15 for the Filter.... I would be willing to drop them off around Bristol, if required.
  3. I have a K&N air filter for sale. It is marked F025K6, has a 65mm diameter flange. It comes from a MY2000 1.4S Lupo, with adapter. Breather pipe comes with it. I also have a pair of clear, smoked, tail lights for a VW Lupo; Seat Arosa - easy to fir, just one screw - no wiring changes necessary Bristol based, putting it on Gumtree, if anyone is interested
  4. Sorry to say this has now been sold.....
  5. Shame but our VW Lupo has to go, after 14 years of ownership - too many cars on the driveway and my eldest has now had to grow up (new baby) and buy a Golf Bright Yellow VW Lupo 1.4S (75hp) - also advertised on Ebay - but would prefer it to go to someone who cares! September 2000 Registered - 1 previous owner, family ownership since 2001, my wife, then two sons... (which means 3 previous owners in log-book) Lowered 40mm many years back, but recent new springs and dampers: Black VW Corrado (powder coated) 15" wheels - good 195/45 tyres Electric windows, cassette radio, CD, head restraints, airbags, mudflaps Interior clean, no tears on stylish (?) fabric seats Paintwork fair, car solid - had been keyed a few years back, couple of car-park dings, impossible to match all the different yellow it fades into... Fully maintained, pretty much regardless of cost. Annual (self) service It has just completed just 95000 miles (~6000 miles per year). Cam belt replaced at 75,000 miles, Front brake disks and Clutch at 87,000 miles, Radiator, plugs and leads at 89,000 miles. Just had a new full exhaust fitted. Just serviced. As advertised in EBay, looking for £950 and a good home - will haggle over price and the 'extras' below Also have yellow GTI spoiler with brake light, a GTI - K&N filter, a full set of VW Lupo badges for tailgate (VW, Lupo, 1.4S) and a pair of Design Ruckleutchen lights (see picture) to sell Contact me (Mark) on 07969 890 520 if interested - I live near Bristol
  6. James, Many thanks for the assistance - herewith the picture intended to help!! This is the piece of the thermostat housing that breaks - it holds the thermostat in place and is screwed to the rest of the housing by two (either 8mm or 10mm) self tapping screws.... The lower radiator pipe fits over the pipe you can see here and the thermostat fills the hole - when closed - and moves away from the viewer to open, pushing on the centre pin. That is when the spigot is not broken.... If you can see your thermostat centre pin sticking through this hole, the housing is broken.
  7. Jon, I have a picture but sorry no idea how to upload.... My failing I am sure. To answer your question regarding what to look for to satisfy yourself that the new housing is sound - just look up into the thermostat housing where the pipe comes off at an angle, you will see the thermostat end (a brass ring) and, if not broken a black plastic bullet joined to the pipe walls by two stretchers. It is the end of the bullet that breaks off, which then allows the pin of the thermostat to poke through. My thermostat housing (broken) allowed the metal pin to come right through the plastic bullet and stick out into the coolant stream... If some kind sole could explain how I upload an image (honest I have managed this on other forums!) then I will add a picture.
  8. Lupo 1.4S with 86K on clock, overheated one evening - red light flashing on dash, high temp etc. Recovery guy took out the thermostat and was able to drive home - car worked fine, but of course without thermostat it will run less economically and heating (in winter) will be weaker... so went and bought a new thermostat. Putting old and new side by side, the only difference was that the old one's metal 'pin' was about an inch long (whereas the new one had only 1/8 inch long - this meant that more of the pin was contained within the brass capsule. Previous posts have noted this, so I fear I am not alone... Replaced thermostat with a new one, refilled the car with anti-freeze/water mix - job done... 20 Mins max!! or so I thought! Took car for run - overheated the same... Took out thermostat and found the 'pin' again about an inch out.... This led me (eventually) to solve the problem - the thermostat housing had broken!! The plastic housing which holds the thermostat in place (two 8mm self tapping screws) and takes the coolant return pipe from the radiator (from the bottom of the radiator) has a spigot (in the centre of the 'pipe' held in place by two fins) into which the thermostat 'pin' fits. In my case the end of that spigot had broken away allowing the pin to push right through.... this means that the thermostat cannot operate (as it presses against the spigot to open) So, to cut a long story short, if your Lupo overheats and the problem is solved by removing the thermostat, before putting a new one in place check that the housing is not broken and that the spigot into which the thermostat pin sits is 'blind' i.e. does not have a hole right through... If it does your new thermostat will fail too.... Thermostat housing appears only to be available as a complete assembly - but looks a pig to replace - so I simply took the housing off the new one (with its new rubber 'o' ring) and fitted that. Hopes this post helps others who have similar problem! It would be good to hear whether this is a common fault or a one-off....
