It's good but it's not right!

Well there could have been a million to one coincidence 2 Lupos that are rare in the UK were being towed on the same day in the same place

passing like ships in the night but it's more likely you just saw us with a 3L on the back

haha awesome!

How random :)

You were at the cafe on the A5, we were just going to vw to pick up some parts and thought they closed at 1 so we didnt have time to look at the lupo at it was about 1, we got the parts then drove up to the cafe but you had gone :(

Any way! what are you doing with a 3l :)

My dad knows the cafe quite well it was his breakfast stop off when he went to visit his mate that had a canal boat not far away. I think he was making excuses

to stop just to get the old memory's flowing haha. Shame we didn't hang around longer.

Its a fantastic car as is so apart form a bit of elbow grace and a few repairs here and there i don't think i will be doing a huge amount of modifying to it. i am sure i will

find thing here and there to do like chrome or LED bulbs to stop the flaking. Moon disks have crossed my mind it keeps with the ECO concept of the car.

As with every Lupo it needs lowering a bit but they are not regular springs. I know H&R make some lowering springs for the FSI / 3L but I will have to hit goggle

translate to find out more about that  . I am really quite amazed at how good the handling is to be honest. It looks like it would be a pig with such thin tyres and

sitting that high but its not at all it feels like it has tuns of grip and takes corners very well. It must be the weight as i was not happy with the sport on the

185s and the tyres on this thing are 155s. All the windows are lightweight so that must give it a lower centre of gravity.

Just to prove how light this car is my dads car returned 36mpg on the way home his average is 40mpg. 36 is not really much different from having the car loaded up

and that was a whole car on the back we could sail up hills no problem. If your going to be trailing a car a 3L certainly is not a bad choice :)

Ah brilliant :).

Yes there are a few canals about! but 1 thing, that cafe is ****e! much better ones about ;)

As for the 3l, it sounds brilliant!

Look forward to the progress.

HAHA when we went past on the way to collect the car there were 100s of bikes outside as many as you would expect to see at rikers or the ace.

Jokeing i said that's obviously a good cafe, Dad just replied 'oh no its a real greasy spoon  you can't argue with the voice of experience.

The first thing i am going to look into sorting is the hydraulic clutch actuator, they are a common fault on the 3L FSI and although it works no problem

it has a leak meaning you have to keep topping it up. We have 2 incredible good gearbox specialists around here so i am going to have a chat with them.

The units them self are expensive from VW but when you find a good engineer they can often fix problems to a higher standard than before.

It's usually not the actuators that are the problem, it is normally leaking O rings. All the hoses have O ring seals at each end which need changing and are secured by clips which wear. A cheap repair! I've never had a problem with any of the clutch actuators despite having 16 car/years of ownership! The gearbox is just a manual gearbox really, the actuator being external.

I had an feeling it may be just a seal as it works fine just needs topping up a fair bit. The oil appears to be just under the base of the unit but with oil

its hard to tell where exactly it is coming from. I am hesitant to take the unit off to have a look. I have read in rather basic google translated German to English

that people have had issues with not being able to get it to work after removing it. I have a PDF manual that covers the actuator but i can't see anything

that covers removing the unit and how you should go about doing that. Fortunately the oil cost was less than i was expecting so as long as it keeps working

its usable.

You need Elsawin (ebay?). Full instructions in English. If you remove the hoses more than one at a time, make sure that they are replaced correctly as you can evidently write off the gangsteller (actuator)!
