hunid-brake
Ok so i recently bought a set of BBS Rz alloys from "Daltz" on here and theyre purple and black (used to belong to Chris and his black Lupo) Anyway ive had the tyres taken off as i was planning a big refurb job on them; only to notice when i stacked them without the tyres on that one wheel has a noticeable flat spot on them!! Im aware this can cause judder which on a Gti will be bigger i guess at higher speeds. What do i do? Do i have to buy a new rim? Ive looked into it online and some flat spots can be worked out but i dont want to compromise the integrity of the wheel. It said in the advert on here they are fine to run and didnt mention the flat spot. The previous owner only had them for 2 months and im wandering niw if this is why he sold them to me. Have i been done? Any helpful feedback would be greatly appreciated. Cheers
Defcon5
If the previous owner never took the tyres off he may not even have realised
Bikerz
To be fair to the seller he brought with those tyres on and sold with those tyres on and probally didnt realise himself
hunid-brake
I just want advice on what to do and if it will be alright as i dont want to pay to have them refurbed if theyre going to be unsafe. And anyway regardless of whether he took the tyres off or not he would have felt the judder right? You wouldnt have to see the flatspot to feel it if he'd been running them for two months. May have even created the flat spot himself but thats neither here nor there now. I have this problem and need to fix it. I dont want to sell the wheels

hunid-brake
Ok ive taken the wheels to a specialist repairer who thinks he will be able to get the flatspot out. Going for a dubious finish to the rims too :-/ if it looks good only time will tell
sinki106
it should be ok i have a fiesta and the alloys on that are made with cheese and i got them refurbed and the boy did a good job, not sure if you will get it a 100% but they might, you shouldn't notice it when drivingi would ask the people who are refurbing the wheels to mark the one that has the flat spot so that when you put that on your gti that its goes on the rear of the carfrom what i have been told you wont notice as much on the back as you would on the frontplease someone say if this in incorrect

max West-York
I wouldnt bother paying for a refurb on wheels that oldI've been in chris' car when he had the wheels on and it drove fine, not even the slightest judder, didn't notice there was a flat spot on them though so may have been done by guy who sold them to you? heartagram
You won't notice a judder if its on the back. Its not guaranteed you will feel it on the front.Flat spot can't be that bad if you didn't notice until they were stacked.
georgen
When I last got tyres on the audi, it was noticed one of the rears had a quite large flat spot, tyre bloke told lad to put kettle on, he poured boiling water around flat spot and knocked out with a soft hammer, didnt know from driving before anyway.George
