Mike_M
Replaced mine at 55k miles and it had loads of life left on it. I only changed it because the release bearing was knackered and thought I might as well get it all done while its off

scrocks
haha £400 love it, is this just a direct swap with the standard or do you need to replace more things? do you have any maintenance issues with it?

But does make gear changes fasterJohn

LupoGTiNAB
I'm sorry but how do you know it's "on it's last legs", it's a hydraulic clutch, there's know way of telling when a hydraulic clutch is about to go!!! ... I know I've had one fail on me costing the warranty company an arm and a leg for clutch and the gearbox it jammed ... !!!! Ask any VW specialist mechanic! There must be something else up with your gear changes! Edited April 15, 2010 by LupoGTiNAB

Ask any VW specialist mechanic! There must be something else up with your gear changes! The biting point on the clutch is right right at the top, but iv just put new brakes and hoses on ma car so im thinking there might be still air in the system, because sometimes it feels ok then other times feels really bad
Philplop
Surely you know it's on its last legs when it starts slipping?Mine did, and I could definitely tell, got a new one fitted and everything was hunky dory, the old one was worn out. I was told by the VW mechanic that there isn't really a way of telling when a hydraulic clutch is on it's way out. Whereas a cable clutch is easy to tell due to the biting point! But I think we all know how most on here feel about the rubbish mechanics tell you!
