whats nor dubs mate? just realised your profile- perth!!! thats perth scotland ye?

Aahh! Nordubs, wink, wink, nudge, nudge, I could tell you but the bigger boys would duff me up! Hahahaaa

Yeah Perth Scotland, but I wish with this years weather it was Perth Australia!

Keep your eyes out for a mini Scottish meet, which usually h appen a couple of times a year near Perth, but there are more and more members here from north of the border so we may do something a bit better someday!

As everyone has said, balls to the service histroy.

The Raven has more to offer - cool as funk colour, spare bathursts in decent knick are kinda like rocking pony poo and the non standard backbox is defiantely a bonus.

The only thing that id get the silver is for the leathers  But if your a flash git then you can always retro fit :)

ok guys went to take a second look at the raven blue gti... i also took the misses so she could fault find with me as i get the (i want vision) when go look at cars lol...

on a 2nd inspection i found a couple more scratches and one of the back quarters look to have been resprayed at some point- current owner has no clue... also the passenger side door has been replaced recently and is a diff colour(slightly darker)

none ov this was a given on the first viewing as it was typically pissin it down up her in bonnie scotland :( (the main reasson i went for a look in the dry :) glad i did)

the misse was usefull as she pointed out the interior did look a bit shabby ie overall wear and tear. i hadnt thought much but when i thought about it the car has only ment to have covered 43 thou miles... now the misses owns an arosa with 40 odd thou on the clock and it by far is not as shabby im talking steering wheel ware gear knob carpets door panels... taking a 2nd look at these is leaving a suspect feeling aout the mileage and lack of service history...

after this 2nd viewing of the raven blue the gut feeling has swung towards penry's silver gti- i feel its alot more gti to be had and its alot more honest...

still to be viewed tho so the decision is still in the balance

Gti's wear very well so to have such noticable wear at a relatively low mileage would indicate a high level of neglect to me.

At this point I would be running away. Someone who not only does not have service history (doesnt have to be VW but surely a history of old receipts for oil etc) and then has a poor respray done shouts out as a cheapskate. I wonder how well the car has been maintained?

Complete no brainer for me, go see the silver car. The owner is a member on here and has been for some while. Pretty sure the car is very well cared for and certainly seems a good option to me. Think it is on coilovers too...the best Gti mod for sure.

was gonna say raven until i read ur recent post. I bought my rosa with a partial service history and just had the cambelt done to be safe. Theyre fairly reliable cars, however if your noticing small things now, they'll only niggle at u later if u bought it. + the leather interior on the other is a rather nice extra!

Dodgy paintwork and interior + no service history of any kind would put me off. as said above I'd expect some sort of reciepts (I even had all reciepts for 10 years of ownership for my MK3 Polo which I sold for £150! to a pal: and I didn't exactly love it!)

I voted silver. Silver it defo is now.

Paintwork will be an expense to put right. My GTi is on 39k and the interior is still pretty spotless apart from dust :( and a few bump marks.
