those of you that see me regularly and those of you that came to the Dirty Stancing Spring meet yesterday, would have seen the new wheels that are now on the lupo!

Now, I'm hoping there will be a lot of changes to the little **** box over the next few months, but money and time permitting we will have to wait and see!

I was going to keep it all very quiet, but considering they are already on the car, as I am impatient, I've not done a very good job of keeping it schtum! I figured it would be rude to show you all!

Now! to say i am not happy with them is an understatement, Neil at Carbon Motive got me a great deal on Powder coating and I cant fault that one bit! apart from some marks in the alloy that we couldn't get out, but apart from that they are stonking! These are the first set of alloys i have put on Oscar that are actually show worthy! Me and my arches don't get on too well with fresh paint!

I literally had to go for what I could find in regards to adapters, until I can get some CAD drawings over to my guy to get some special ones made up. So thats the first disappointment!

The second disappointment came when I went to slam it back down to how I like it. all looked well at the front, sat nice and close to the arch and could still get full lock without rubbing! Then i reversed off my drive and buried the tyre into the wall of the inner arch! AH! Problem! So, turns out I have a slight rubbing issue! No time to sort that out, so raised the whole thing up and was off on my way to Wheels day! This is where the 3rd disappointment upped its head! the rear arches simply aren't deep/tall enough to sit the wheels anywhere near as buried in the arch asIi need! DAMN DAMN DAMN!

So again I set about with the jack and raised the back. In hindsight I should have done this when I raised the front as no one likes reverse rake, but my drive is wonky and it looked pretty flush at the time!

So anyway! with the front and back raised higher than I EVER intended, i set off back to london with my tail between my legs, feeling like a very silly boy!

The week passed by with the lupo sat on the drive, as it does all week, every week... oh yeah! I also needed the wheels aligned BIG time! but the only place that will touch the lupo had problems with their machine and couldnt get someone in till this monday! That was the next disappointment!

So... saturday came and I was desperate to get the car looking ok. I knew I wouldn't be overly happy with the way it sat, but if I could at least get it clean and do something to stop all the rubbing I would be a little happy!

Cleaned, and properly rolled the arches some more, but lowering wasn't going to happen... unless I wanted to buy new tyres when I got back from the Dirty Stancing Spring meet on sunday! Which I was worried I would have to do anyway with this alignment ****! but sunday morning came, I set off, unhappy and ill, but very excited for the show, for Oscar's first Proper outing with the new wheels! :D

I'm not going to talk about the AWESOME turn out at Dirty Stancing Spring Meet no.1 because we all know it was super duper! So I'll leave you with some pictures. Starting from the beginning of my story, Wheels day...

Arch liners came out, some screws went it to keep the bumpers in line and out came the heat gun and mallet so we could wake some neighbours!

a good clean and we were ready to hit DSSM1!!

only one of Butch, Oscar and I on route to DSSM1 that I have stumbled upon so far...

I didnt take as many pictures of Oscar as I would usually, mainly due to I didnt want to look at him! hahaa, so the ones I have found from various sources on FB will have to do :)

I'll update as I come across more :)

So all in all! I MUST sort this stance out! I feel I am letting the side down big time and I promise to sort it out!!!

but first... something like this is in order...

555882_10151465916330392_524925391_23804209_1153673720_n.jpg

Had a bit of a play today to see if i could get the teledials sitting the way i always planned, tuns out i could, but would need a lot of work done, which i could be tempted to do, but it would also result in me probably wrecking them in the process!

so they may be up for sale! £650 takes them!

so anyway, this was my process today!

wheels and adapters came off as i was planning on running the 35mm spacers out back with the 20mm adapters bolted onto them. so the spacers were fitted and adapters got swapped over. as soon as the adapters where bolted onto the spacers, i knew it would either be magic or it would be just too wide! I dont really want to run any camber on these tyres as i havent heard great things about them sitting on the bead well!

It turns out unfortunately they were just too wide and when jacked back down the arch sat on the tyre. So up it went again, wheel off and the mallet came out to attack the arches! pulled them out a considerable amount but it still wasnt enough! With my roller being in swindon the only other option was camber! so i though **** it! Lets do it!!! the car doesnt get driven that often and i'll just keep a close watch on the tyres! PROBLEM!

took the adapter off, unbolted the spacer and guess what! The little prick is stuck HARD! nothing would budge it!!!

Off i went on my bike to go buy a bunch of chisels to try and release it from the hub! long story short, i got it off, and by this time had come to my senses and decided that i wouldnt be putting camber on these tyres today!

baring in mind that these wheels were bought because i had got bored of having 'flush' wheels and wanted to tuck alloy like i was doing on the 3 spokes!

So that it hadnt been a complete waste of time i decided to have a bit of a bash at the inner arch where the tyre had rubbed. i think i did some good, but i guess i wont really tell untill i next hit a bump and wait for that awful sound!

eventually everything went back to how it was when i started, lowered the front a little more just to test it out, and realised that unless i can tuck at least 1/2" of alloy all round i'm not going to be happy!

so whats next for this stupid lupo! well! I see us with two options. Both allowing me to continue being the face of Dirty Stancing without feeling embarrassed by my 'stance'

option 1:

go back to the 'flush' look, much like Scott and I have been talking about, 15's maybe 16's but at least 8" wide with an et of around 15, lowered till its almost between tyre and rim

or

option 2:

Go mad Balls'd style and make it so i can tuck 17's in tubbed arches!

The latter i'm pretty sure hasnt been done before, and i feel i would be more happy with that, but would cost more money and would be more of a ball ache!

Decisions, decisions!
