confused.gif style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="confused.gif" /> On Friday I popped down to see Jon and Chris and we went in Chris’s tdi for a quick trip. I instantly thought to my self this seems abit nippier than mine? Chris agreed with me. Mines a 01 and his is 02, I wouldn’t of thought anything would of changed in 1 year but why is his quicker than mine?

If you have checked your airfilter & it's not clogged, vheck your MAF isn't caked in sh*t. Do do this do the following.....

Between the air filter housing & turbo you will see something that looks like an inline T-piece with an electrical connection on it, disconnect the sensor plug & using a pair of adjustable grips remove the two clips holding it to the pipework (squeeze the tabs together to loosen the clips). Once this is done take the MAF out & check for excessive dirt build up, if it is dirty wipe the inner housing with a soft, dry, untreated cloth. If you want to take it a step further undo the 2 torx screws holding the actual sensor in place, remove the sensor & soak it in a decent airfilter cleaning fluid (K&N, pipercross etc) overnight. Let the sensor air dry, rebuild & replace the unit.

Hopefully this should help to make a difference. smile.gif style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

I worked at a factory and have done for many years, I have done a stint a few years ago driving the cars out when finished and loading them onto the transporters and parking them up (yes I screwed every single one I drove)

The thing I noticed is that every one is different, slow ones and faster then normal ones.

I still work in the industry and drive different cars every day and do notice the same thing, every car drives differently and I can drive 5 or 6 of the same model and spec and without fain there different.

This thread might apply to me soon!

Daryll try getting a cleaner off Chris, that wouldn't do it any harm. I do think Chris had a fast one though!

ohmy.gif style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":o" border="0" alt="ohmy.gif" /> HAD!! Ive still got it you know, or atleast it should be sat on the drive wink.gif style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

But yes try a cleaner, there is one in mine ATM, although it does no good to anything just sat on the driveway laugh.gif style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> So it needas a bit of a run through, but its worth trying it with yours.

Forgot to say try using BP ultimate diesel too, more expensive but **** me it makes a big difference!

Ive been meaning to try that, its difficult to find round here though, the nearest BP garage doesnt do it, and thats a large services too.

But i will find it and try it with my next tank. Does it do more MPG on it, or just more power or what?

Mine should be running even better after this lot of flush has worked its way through and a i fill up with Ultimate then biggrin.gif style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

My TDi slowed down the other day, i was just overtaking a car when there was a big loss of power, i managed to creep past but the car was very slow for the rest of the drive home. I didn't want to stop unless it wouldn't start again so i kept going flat out at 70mph for the next 100 miles... When i got home i switched the engine off and left it for a few seconds and re started... Goes like f*ck again now, don't know what it was, praps the turbo was having a minute.

Well it still feels the same a when I got it so i guess theres no power loss but when chris put his foot down it just felt that it had abit more go in it.

I just had mine serviced at 60k so I don't think it that what is the problem.

I will have a look at what u said max but I think they might have already done that as there a few marks on the clips where i guess the taken it off.

I will get some of you dads cleaner chris and see if that helps about.

Don't get me wrong, my tdi is very nippy but chris's had that little extra poke to it :S

Has the cambelt been done reacently? Sometimes the timing can be a fraction out and sometimes you can get it spot on. Did a cambelt on a Escort TDI that was quite sluggish, after i had done it it went like sh*t off a shovel.

There are days mine feels slow.

To be honest there was one day it flew but never again it drove like that sad.gif style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />

The cold evenings make a massive difference however too i find!

But a good old bit of BP optimax can help too!

I'm going to 10k Boost my car to clean its EGR valve and all that muck since i did it about a year ago.

Plus also looking into cleaning my intercooler too which I found helped when I had a FMIC before.

Yea have to agree, some nights it flys when it's cooler.

I going to have to try some of this optimax stuff see what it is like biggrin.gif style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

Yea my cambelt has just been done about 700 miles ago and serviced

Camblet did jack poop to mine. Trust me i've tried EVERYTHING to get mine faster.

In the end apart from a smeggy MAF my car was 100% healthy, runs a treat and no faults. Just that some cars are faster than others really.

I've had both Storm Developments and JBS autodesigns look at my cars mapping and everything else.

Conclusion - driver got used to the power too much smile.gif style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Well looking at improving my air flow and getting a nice fresh service so will hopefully be able to get some form of power run later this year

My car is happy keeping those 1.6 Fiesta Zetec-S's, Saxo VTR (100hpversion's) and Honda Civic 1.6 V-tec type-S's from my boot.

Just to play devils advocate Shell Optimax diesel does now exist as does BP ultimate diesel, & to be be correct It should be MAF meter. MASS AIR FLOW METER!

Please continue. wink.gif style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />
