  1. we havn't bothered to do anything to ours i'm affraid, i wash it every now and then.
  2. We're thinking of selling if anybody is interested 1.0L S model
  3. Our lass was driving home today and the drivers side door mirror casing fell off, she didn't bother stopping as it was damaged anyway. Does anybody know if i can just buy a new casing? preferably from a scrap yard, or is it a new job lot. It was painted red and the car is 53 reg. cheers, Rich
  4. That's it, made of plastic i think, horrid stuff Get some of this on it: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/3-8-10mm-Clear-Braid...%3A1%7C294%3A50
  5. Hmm. i know what you're saying matey, and perhaps people enjoy doing it. But the simple fact is, it is nie on impossible to make a flash car. The manufacturers invest millions of pounds and thousands of man hours in the design of thier cars, when we try it they just look silly Homer Simpson once said "No matter how hard you try to do something, their will allways be somebody better at it than you... So what's the point in bothering" Made me laugh anyway.
  6. Don't do anything to it.. If you want to look a bit flash... Buy a flash car, simple.
  7. This happened to my MK2 Arosa whilst under warranty. They had to order a new badge as to open the bonnet they had to break the existing one. I took a close up picture of the badge and catch behind it for future reference. i'll post it if you want
  8. this happened to my girlfriends car (engine idling fast and brakes lose their sharpness) i remembered the symptoms from my old Vauxhall viva, ha ha. Anyway it can be fixed with some 3/8" braided hose used for air conditioning drain pumps and 2 jubilee clips. Although it's a braking component it isn't a critical part, the brakes still work as good, you just have to apply more pressure to the pedal without servo assit working. Cars never used to have servo assisted brakes... how times change
  9. Don't hold your breath, when i always got damp problems the HT leads were knackered. Good luck tho
  10. What's wrong with the wheels that are on it?
  11. Ha Ha, i never paid any attention to it until i bought a car with a bloody trip compooter.
  12. Perhaps the heater matrix is leaking, see if it smells the same as the header tank cap.
  13. That's amazing mpg at that speed, i don't think my TDi was ever that good, allthough i am like you and only occasionally can be bothered to drive slowly. As they say 'we're money rich time poor' About your 74mpg trip, if you have the wind behind you it makes alot of difference, also if your journey was generally down hill it will use lots less, hills are a killer.
  14. My van has got an average fuel consumption compooter on it so i can see in real time how much it uses. Here's a couple of tips i've noticed. Don't stick to 70mph and think you're not using much fuel, at 70 it flippin drinks it. The best speed to drive at is in top gear going as slow as you can without labouring the engine, something like 45mph. Don't put your foot down to maintain speed going up hill, let the car slow down, also going downhill let the car speed up. My van does 61mpg travelling at between 55 - 65mph. it would do more if i slowed down a bit. http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o151/fl...cket/clocks.jpg
  15. Hi elizabete, do people flash you coming the other way?
  16. I did it years ago and everything worked fine, mind you it was a 1973 Vauxhall, the hardest thing to get off and on is the exhaust. The problem nowadays would be the electronics/immobiliser etc. Also you would need the uprated brakes if you go for a more powerfull engine, as i did Oh, i did a ford once too, nearly forgot that one
  17. There will be lots of room in the spare wheel well because the spare is a weedy thin thing, great for tools and stuff
  18. Yes it has air con, in fact it has got just about every gadget going. It should pull the caravan a bit better it has an extra 10mn torque, and it's 4 cylinder common rail engine is smoother with a short sporty gear change . You should book a test drive you'll be amazed at the difference. Sod the tax i'm loaded, tee hee
  19. Don't know if it was rust but the paint was lifting anyway, it looked like you could crack it off with your finger nail, but i left it and nobody noticed (nick of time) I found out yesterday because it's a van the road tax is a whopping £180 a year Ouch.. i'll run it for a couple of years though... Erm, probably
  20. Yeah, i would have sold it privately if it didn't have it's little problem (occasional limp mode) i couldn't do that to anybody. Plus it will soon need a cam belt and big service, plus the front edge of the bonnet paint was just starting to lift as if it had rust creeping under. I'm well rid. Went up to Glasgow at the weekend in Starsky, (ha ha that's Sportvans name) And some Spitefull Scottish GIT gouged a scratch in the back bumper, i suppose it's the loud paint scheme, never had that problem with the Arosa
  21. Nice innit? It's got a normal back window, i'll have to get a grille for it. Didn't get Arosa remapped in the end the garage was a dead loss. They wanted to give me £2700 for the car but i managed to get them up to £2900. I'll have to join the sportvan forum now ha ha
  22. Yes replacing the 1.4 TDi.......For a VAN!.......A nice one though i've had a test drive in one today and loved it. The Sports are 1.6tdci 90BHP 205nm. 116g of co2/km ie £35 a year tax. As with lots of Fords it's loaded with goodies, electric everything, air con, leather seat edges, bluetooth kit, 16" alloys, heated windscreen even radio buttons on the steering column (idleness or what) I've left a deposit. Keeping the gutless petrol, our lass loves it
